TEAMS:
Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans announced Wednesday that defensive tackle Shaun Smith had been released.
Smith confirmed the move via his twitter account on Wednesday morning:
"It's been real Nashville time to c what team I will be on next but am thankful for everything and the lord will continue to bless me"
"Thanks for the love ppl gonna miss my young killers in the D line in my honor I should of made better life decisions lol keep grinding"
The Titans knew they would have to cut players from their talented group at defensive tackle, but unfortunately for Smith, he had to be that guy. He played in 15 games for Tennessee in 2011 and will now be potentially playing for his sixth team as he enters his ninth NFL season.
The young group of defensive tackles on the Titans made the release of Shaun Smith a relatively easy move for the organization, although he is a fan favorite due to his light-hearted personality.

The Tennessee Titans Win This Years Award for Rookie Hazing Haircuts
The NFL rookie haircut hazing is an age old pastime. This year many teams decided the ‘dong’ cut was the cut of the year. The Tennessee Titans kept their haircuts PG-13, but pretty much butchered every rookie on the team. For that we give them the Haircut Award.
The question is; would you rather have your haircut like these dudes or thrown in an ice cold tub, or taped to a goal...

Short suspension for Titans’ Kenny Britt?
Kenny Britt has been arrested 8 times in his NFL career thus far, after going in the 1st round in 2009. He would have been suspended last season if it hasn’t been for Roger Goodell’s decision to excuse any arrests that happened during the lockout, during which Britt was arrested 3 times. However, after a recent DUI, Britt is expecting a suspension after a 2nd visit to the commissioner’s...
Tennessee Titans extend CB Jason McCourty
The Titans are taking a risk giving McCourty this 5 year, 43 million dollar deal with 20 million guaranteed. McCourty was actually thrown on more frequently than any cornerback in the league last year, being thrown on once every 4.6 coverage snaps. However, this was because opposing quarterbacks feared throwing on Cortland Finnegan, the opposite cornerback and the Titans’ #1 cornerback...

Jake Locker needs to develop during the 2012 season
After finally getting around to watching Jake Locker's performance against the Buccaneers, all I can say is "wow," and not in the good way.
Locker was accused of looking lost against the Buccaneers, but that's not what I saw from the young quarterback. I've seen some of that finicky energy before from another quarterback in the AFC South, Blaine Gabbert...

It was a lot more interesting late than it was early, but the Titans tonight improved to 2-1 in the preseason with a 32-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals thanks to a fourth-quarter touchdown run by Jamie Harper. The bigger storylines out of the game, though, were Jake Locker's first start as a starter and a gruesome injury that will cost Marc Mariani the 2012 season.Jake Locker...

I've covered Jake Locker and the rest of the offense, which means it's time for me to turn my attention to how the Titans' defense performed in the second preseason game against the Buccaneers. As was the case with the offense, the numbers on the statsheet are impressive: six first downs and only 81 net yards of offense, with 33 of those coming on the Bucs' final possession...
