PLAYERS: Jon Gruden
TEAMS: Tennessee Titans
With their second round pick, the Tennessee Titans addressed a need for another potential playmaker at the OLB position by selecting North Carolina's Zach Brown. Referred to by Jon Gruden during ESPN's Draft Coverage as a track-athlete playing football, Brown's athletic ability is highly apparent as evidenced by an impressive 4.44 forty-yard dash time. Of course, as indicated by Gruden's comment as well as others who've chimed in on his abilities, Brown is known more for his physical talents than his football instincts.  Personally, at this stage of his career, Brown can be considered a project faced with the daunting task of turning his potential into production on the NFL level. As he develops his talents, I expect Brown's speed to wreak havoc as a factor on special teams, until he's ready to contribute on Jerry Gray's defense. Any thoughts/comments on the Zach Brown selection? Feel free to contribute your thoughts below.

Titans draft WR Kendall Wright of Baylor at No. 20

The Tennessee Titans have selected wide receiver Kendall Wright of Baylor with the No. 20 pick overall. Wright becomes an extra target for either Matt Hasselbeck or Jake Locker with Kenny Britt coming off a torn right ACL. Wright is just the fourth receiver taken by this franchise in the first round but the second in four years. Britt was their first-round pick in 2009. The Titans...

Titans pick SMU TE Taylor Thompson in 5th round

The Tennessee Titans have selected SMU tight end Taylor Thompson with the 145th pick overall after making their first trade this draft with Miami to move up 10 spots. Tennessee sent the Dolphins the 155th pick overall along with No. 227 in the seventh round to jump up and select the 6-foot-6, 287-pound Thompson. He was first-team Conference USA as a junior at defensive end when...

Tennessee Titans Make Surprise Selection, Take Star WR Kendall Wright

Entering the 2012 NFL Draft, wide receiver wasn’t on the list of the top three needs for the Tennessee Titans. But that didn’t stop the team from making a surprise selection again this April and taking the star receiver out of Baylor. Kendall Wright saw steady growth in his four-year college career at Baylor. “When he gets the ball in his hands, he’s special,” Mike Mayock...

Titans morning after: More perspective on Kendall Wright

After last night's knee-jerk negative reaction to the Tennessee Titans taking Kendall Wright with their own 20th pick in the first round of this year's NFL draft, it's time to expand those thoughts on how he fits in and what his acquisition means for the Titans.A lot of people I respect have Wright ranked highly. My former Football Outsiders colleague Doug Farrar ranked...

Tennessee Titans select Zach Brown, Grade B

The Tennessee Titans clearly fell in love with Zach Brown’s athleticism. There’s no denying the fact that he can fly around the field, but he isn’t an true impact player in any aspect of the game at this stage in his career. I did give him a late 2nd-round grade based on his athleticism and potential, however, so I will still give the pick a solid B. What I don’t like about...

Tennessee Titans select Kendall Wright, Grade A

The Tennessee Titans didn’t fill a need with this selection, but it’s a great value pick. I had Kendall Wright in the top 10 on my draft board, so the Titans obviously did a nice job getting him at 20. Wright is an explosive deep threat and will complement Kenny Britt well in Tennessee. Jake Locker has to be feeling great about this selection.

2012 NFL Draft: Titans Select Kendall Wright

With the 20th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Tennessee Titans select WR Kendall Wright from Baylor U.  He will help out Rutgers standout Kenny Britt.   Wright gives the Titans and QB Hassleback a vertical game that they much need  to open up the running game.  As a true freshman in 2008, Wright played in all 12 games and led the team in receptions with 50, receiving...

Tennessee Titans: the biggest losers of Round 1

The Tennessee Titans drafted 15 WRs over the past decade, more than any team has drafted any position. These 15 players made virtually zero impact. Yet Tennessee was back at the well again: drafting another Shiny Hood Ornament with its No. 1 pick Thursday night.....

With pass rushers galore on the board and one of the best offensive guards in recent memory still available, the Tennessee Titans instead took wide receiver Kendall Wright on Thursday out of Baylor with the 20th overall pick in the NFL Draft. In the event that Titans' top wide receiver Kenny Britt is not back to 100 percent after having blown out his ACL last season, the 5-foot...

Titans Select Baylor WR Kendall Wright (Rd.1, No.20)

With the 20th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select Baylor WR Kendall Wright. Wright knows how to use his athletic ability to his advantage and is a dynamic player. Despite his size, he is an effective and even lethal threat at the line of scrimmage, as he can get a quick step on a corner and be open from the get-off. His quickness off the line of scrimmage...

Maurice Clarett Loves Jon Gruden, Not a Big Fan of Mel Kiper Jr., Still Major Draft Bust

The Denver Broncos shocked the world by drafting Maurice Clarett in the third round in 2005. He has since gone from big time running back to armchair quarterback. Clarett, whose off-the-field trouble derailed any chance he had of enjoying a successful NFL career, decided to utilize Twitter during the first two days of this year's NFL draft, and he's been very opinionated...

The Good, the bad, and the ugly from ESPN's 1st Round NFL Draft coverage

Last year we broke down the good, bad, and ugly from ESPN's 1st round NFL Draft coverage.  Aside from the obvious baggage that comes with ESPN's NFL coverage (more on that later) last year's "less is more' approach provided a significant upgrade over previous seasons.  Gone were analysts like Steve Young and Keyshawn Johnson talking just to hear themselves...
