The Oakland Raiders are still very interested in free agent cornerback Terrance Newman and have hopes of signing him soon. According to Jerry McDonald of the Contracostatimes.com, Newman is giving ‘strong consideration’ to signing with the Raiders. McDonald writes: ‘The agent for cornerback Terence Newman said Monday his client is giving "strong consideration" toward signing with the Raiders. Newman, who started 15 games with the Cincinnati Bengals last season, met with the Raiders last week and left the facility without signing a contract.’ Also in Raiders news, Oakland has come to terms with former Atlanta Falcon defensive lineman Vance Walker. According to Josh Alper of Profootballtalk.com, Walker joins the team increasing their depth on the defensive line, which impacted the defense in 2012. Alper writes: The Raiders announced that they and defensive tackle Vance Walker, who spent the last four years with the Falcons, have agreed on a contract for the 2013 season. He played in all 16 games for Atlanta last season, starting nine times and setting career highs with three sacks and 32 tackles. He largely played a run-stopping role during his years with Atlanta, although those sacks suggest he’s not without some ability to thwart the opposition’s designs on passing the ball. Walker joins Pat Sims and Jason Hunter as additions to the Raiders defensive line since the start of free agency.’     var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
