Texans cornerback Johnathan Joseph (hamstring), linebacker Tim Dobbins (shoulder) and receiver-returner DeVier Posey (knee-hamstring) missed practice Tuesday and all figure to be “game-time” decisions in Detroit on Thursday morning, coach Gary Kubiak said. Joseph’s health “is a concern,” defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said, especially considering the Lions have the most explosive quarterback-receiver combination in the NFL in Mathew Stafford and Calvin Johnson. But the coaches aren’t writing off Joseph yet. “We trust Jay-Jo,” Kubiak said. “If he says he can go, we’ll let him go. I sent him in about halfway through practice today to get some extra treatment.” Despite the short week, Kubiak is approaching the Lions game with an all-hands-on-deck mentality. “I don’t want to wait (on any of the injured players),” he said. “If a guy’s ready to go, let’s play. Every game’s important. I want them all ready to play.” Including backup running back Ben Tate, who has missed the last three games since suffering the pull on his final carry against Baltimore. Kubiak said Tate “worked harder than whole team today. He ran his tail off with the trainers. If he walks in here (Wednesday) and says he feels good, there’s a much greater chance we’ll play him.” Source: Houston Chronicle Attached Thumbnails

Only 4 days after they played what may have been the hardest game of the season thus far the Houston Texans head to Detroit on a short week to face off with the Detroit Lions this week on Thanksgiving Day. The Texans are coming off a game that went into overtime against a divisional rival. It was a game many thought would be a blowout but turned out to be the highest point total...

The Houston Texans escape Jags in overtime thriller

This was the scene as Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson leaped into the Reliant Stadium stands after his game winning catch and run against the Jags on Sunday in overtime. In a game in which one of the teams lost their starting QB to injury, and the other had their all pro running back struggle to get it going all game. There was still a total yardage mark of 1098 and 9 TD’s the...

The Rundown: Texans vs. Jaguars

Talk about one of the wildest games we have seen the Houston Texans involved in, but this shootout was one that Texans’ fans can be proud of. It provided 640 yards of offense for the Texans and a game for the franchise history book for Andre Johnson. The defense had another off day but provided enough stops in overtime to put together a win to push the Texans’ record to 9-1...

Texans Injury Report: Ben Tate, Owen Daniels, Johnathan Joseph

Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels is among 13 players listed as probable for today’s matchup with the Detroit Lions on the team’s injury report, while cornerback Johnathan Joseph (hamstring) and running back Ben Tate (hamstring) are questionable to suit up. Daniels was able to return last week after missing one game due to a back injury. He caught six passes for 57...

Houston prepares for 1st Thanksgiving game

The Houston Texans won't have long to lament the mistakes they made against the Jacksonville Jaguars before rallying for a wild 43-37 overtime win. They've got a quick turnaround before playing their first Thanksgiving game against Detroit where they'll look to improve on their franchise-best 9-1 start. Coach Gary Kubiak said playing four days after an overtime game...

Texans playing Lions for a spot in the playoffs

The Houston Texans have put themselves in a position to be the NFL's first team to seal a spot in the playoffs and to move a step closer toward earning home-field advantage in the AFC. Houston (9-1) has won four straight and is 4-0 on the road this season, giving the Texans a great shot to be in consecutive postseasons for the first time. ''It shows the progress we...

Backup quarterbacks are useful in evaluating young guns

This weekend, the Houston Texans nearly dropped a game to one of the worst teams in the NFL. It was an offensive shootout with little defense to speak of from either team, and the Texans emerged from overtime with the victory. The other story line that came from the Texans near-miss was the possible end of the Blaine Gabbert era in Jacksonville. After leaving the game early with...

Know Your Opponent with www.SideLionReport.com

After a gut check overtime game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, our Houston Texans travel to Ford Field in Detroit for a Thanksgiving day match-up versus the Lions. This is one of those interconference games in which the Lions and their fans do not know exactly what to expect from the Texans; the Texans and us, the Texans fans, don’t know exactly what to expect from the Lions...

Houston Texans at Detroit Lions: Week 12 NFL Pick

Houston Texans (9-1) at Detroit Lions (5-5) Every year the Lions have a Thanksgiving home game and every year they struggle. They’ve covered just once in their last 9 Thanksgiving home games. Even last year when they were good and made the playoffs for the first time in a decade, they didn’t play well on Thanksgiving, losing 27-15 against the Green Bay Packers. Most of these...

Houston Texans: Week 12 NFL Power Rankings (#1)

Last week: 1 (+0) Record: 9-1 They’re still the #1 team, but maybe only by default. I’m still not sold on any one team right now and maybe they’re just keeping this seat warm for the 49ers, who I’ll be sold on in a way I’m sold on no other if Kaepernick continues to start and proves last Monday was not a fluke. Instead, for right now, I think there are 6 teams that are...
