HOUSTON (AP) -- Kick returner Trindon Holliday has made the Houston Texans' roster, but quarterback Case Keenum has been released.
The 5-foot-5 former LSU track star secured his spot on the team after returning his third kick for a touchdown Thursday night in Houston's last preseason game.
The Texans chose John Beck as their third-string quarterback, which left Keenum, an undrafted rookie who set NCAA passing records at the University of Houston, without a spot on the team. Coach Gary Kubiak says they might sign Keenum to the practice squad to add depth at the position after Houston was left scrambling last season after its top two quarterbacks were lost to season-ending injuries.
Houston also released veteran fullback Moran Norris and former Oklahoma standout wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias.

The wait is over as the Houston Texans filled their 2012 practice squad, and there are some familiar names on the list.
Quick note on the practice squad.
Practice squad contracts are negotiable but the minimum is $5700/week & players live week to week. Can be released anytime

Shortly after losing out the starting right tackle position, offensive tackle Rashad Butler was lost for the season with a right triceps injury suffered in the second quarter against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite being just a preseason game, the Texans took a big blow to their offensive tackle depth, and during a post game press conference had Head Coach Gary Kubiak “concerned”...
The final preseason game of the year for the Houston Texans probably has little public appeal. Tonight’s game at home against the Minnesota Vikings will almost exclusively feature the team’s backup players and those fighting for a spot on the final 53-man roster. The starters will not see any of the field as they rest and prepare for their regular season opener in Miami against...

The man fell during the Thursday game between the Texans and the Minnesota Vikings, Reliant Stadium officials said in a statement. Houston Police Department spokesman John Cannon said he could...
Amidst a flurry of moves, the Houston Texans reduced their roster and met the league imposed 53-man roster deadline on Friday evening. In addition to releasing players, the team also acquired a player via trade. The Texans and the Chicago Bears exchanged players. Houston sent CB Sherrick McManis to the Bears in exchange for FB Tyler Clutts. The move leaves the Bears without a fullback...
We had a chance to talk to starting left guard Wade Smith about what he saw from the younger players against the Minnesota Vikings. Smith also told us his thoughts on how he has progressed over the preseason, his relationship with Duane Brown and what it is like to have Matt Schaub back in the huddle.
According to CBS Houston, a 45-year old man fell to his death from a escalator at the Houston Texans preseason finale on Thursday night.

Here are a few notes from tonights game against the Minnesota Vikings:
- D.J. Bryant has stated a case to make the Texans as a practice squad player. He was active in pass rush and in run game defense. He has shown flashes of his pass rush capability throughout the season.
- DeVier Posey was better late than never with his first catch of his NFL career. He caught the ball, took...
Chicago has traded fullback Tyler Clutts to the Houston Texans for third-year cornerback Sherrick McManis, a former fifth-round pick in 2010.
The Minnesota Vikings ended the preseason Thursday with a 28-24 loss to the Houston Texans, unable to gain any momentum team-wise while finishing the preseason with a 1-3 record.
But this preseason hasnt been about a record; its been about the development and evaluation of a very young roster.
A look at how the team graded out with its backups on the field in the final rehearsal...
1. Houston TexansI’m not quite as sold on the Texans as some, but they should win this division purely on talent. The offense boasts arguably the game’s best running back (Arian Foster), and one of its best wide receivers (Andre Johnson).Plus an offensive line coming off of an impressive season and a productive starting quarterback in Matt Schaub. However, there are cracks in...
