Found December 18, 2011 on Houston Diehards:
Well, that was totally unsurprising. I fully expected the letdown part, but did not expect that the Texans wouldn’t respond in the second half. That part was a surprise. Houston was faced with a brutal truth on Sunday. A truth that we were all expecting to be told at some point. TJ Yates played like a rookie. He completely overlooked receivers as they ran free through the secondary, he turned the ball over, and he made some bad decisions. Yates had done all these things in previous games, but this time the end result was only 13 points. Today, clearly the biggest problem was the defense. Cam Newton had an excellent game, and the Texans rarely had an answer for him. As is human nature, Texans fans this week will be looking for someone to blame. You’ll hear that Yates had a bad game. Foster had the early turnover. The defense couldn’t stop Newton. The Texans missed Wade Phillips. The Texans got a bit full of themselves as the division champions, and thou...

T.J. Yates Named NFL Rookie of the Week

For the week of December 8-12, Houston Texans rookie quarterback T.J. Yates was named the NFL Pepsi Rookie of the Week for his playoff clinching performance against the Cincinnati Bengals. Yates who led a the game winning drive and finished the day 26 of 44 for 300 yards and 2 touchdowns, also chipped in on the ground with 36 yards. His late scamper on the game winning drive for...

Pressure now on Texans' defense

If the Texans lose in the playoffs, we now know what it will look like. Sunday showed us that. Quarterback T.J. Yates' performance Sunday was disappointing, but inevitable, and as far as we know he might do it again this week. He might do it in the playoffs. He might not, of course, but odds are Yates has not gotten all the rookie beaten out of him in three starts. Odds are...

T.J. Yates has a new challenge

Fresh off their first playoff berth in franchise history, the Texans have a new hill to climb. They have to overcome a two touchdown deficit with rookie quarterback T.J. Yates behind center. The Panthers lead 14-0 in Houston. There was a worry all week the Texans could experience a letdown, and that has been the…

Panthers end Texans' win streak at seven, 28-13

Houston rookie quarterback T.J. Yates looked to be well on his way to orchestrating another improbable comeback. Instead, the fifth-round pick made the kind of mistake he'd avoided in his first two starts and it dearly cost the AFC South leaders in a 28-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers, ending the Texans' seven-game winning streak. The Texans were down by 15 points when...

Houston Texans Loss Comes With a Side of Joy

Watching today’s game in which the Carolina Panthers manhandled the buffoonish Houston Texans was rather painful. It seemed as if T.J. Yates regressed to his college days while the defense took a day off. Apparently Ben Tate did not get the memo that he was a power rusher either as he continually got stuffed in the run game. Arian Foster was, perhaps, the lone bright light...

Texans Mauled by Panthers

The Texans were mauled by the Panthers 28-13 at Reliant Stadium. Fantasy Spin: Quarterback T.J. Yates was coming off his first career 300-yard performance, but lost momentum today as he completed 19 of 30 passes for 212 yards, with zero touchdowns against two costly interceptions. Stud running back Arian Foster took care of business for fantasy owners though, as he bruised his way...

Something new: The Texans defense gets pushed around

We saw a lot of surprising things happen during Week 15. Houston’s loss to Carolina got lost in the shuffle, but we were especially surprised to see the way the Texans lost. T.J. Yates took a step back for Houston with two critical interceptions, but he also did a lot of good things in the…

Slow Start, Turnovers Costly as Texans Crumble against Carolina 28-13

Cam Newton threw two touchdown passes, DeAngelo Williams ran for a score and the Carolina Panthers ended Houston’s seven-game winning streak with a 28-13 win over the Texans on Sunday. Newton completed 13 of 23 passes for 149 yards, outplaying opposing rookie quarterback T.J. Yates. The Panthers (5-9) built a 21-0 halftime lead, then ended Houston’s second-half...

Colts game preview video primetime vs. the Texans

Fresh off their first win of the season, the 1-13 Colts take on the Houston Texans on Thursday night. The Texans, top dogs in the AFC South, are coming loaded with plenty of weapons, too, in Arian Foster and T.J. Yates. And the Colts? Well, ...
