Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it keeps one of their key pieces of the franchise in place for the considerable future. To make room Andre Johnson restructured his contract, and was given $5.5 million as a bonus to clear up room for the Cushing signing. Cushing is coming off a season where he was injured with a torn ACL, but he has made a full recovery to be said 100% for the upcoming season. Cushing is a big part of the Texans defense and adding him back to the middle, gives the Texans time to find his replacement in due time. With the Texans he has appeared in 49 games and has 237 tackles with 9.5 sacks and 7 interceptions. He has also was awarded the 2009 NFL AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and the Pro Bowl in 2009.
