Texans' Fairbairn Donating To 'Rebuilding Maui'
USA TODAY Sports

Houston Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn is the latest athlete to spread the word and help families in the Maui, Hawaii wildfires.

The 29-year-old took to Instagram, pledging to make a donation with every kick he makes.

"Aloha, friends! I need your help in 'Rebuilding Maui,'" Maui wrote on Wednesday. "For every field goal I make this year, $250 will be donated and every PAT will contribute $100 to the cause. I'm not doing this alone – my fellow Hawaii NFL players are with me, and we're on a mission to restore our beloved home."

Fairbairn explained that he's also partnering with the Lonomai Foundation and donations "no matter the size" are heavily encouraged.

"We're focusing on both immediate aid – providing essentials like generators, tents, medicine, and school supplies – and the long-term recovery of the Lahaina community. Join me in making a change."

Fairbairn tagged a few Hawaiian athletes in the post that will contribute to "Rebuilding Maui", including former Texans (and current Carolina Panthers) linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Marcus Mariota and former two-time MLB All-Star outfielder Shane Victorino.

2022 was Fairbairn's best season in terms of field goal percentage, at 93.6 percent. This staggering number was third among all NFL kickers who've attempted at least 20 field goals. Fairbairn's best overall season was probably in 2018, when he led the league in field goals made and attempted.

Fairbairn's field goal (29) and PAT (24) numbers from last year would've given Maui $9,650. The Texans' No. 2 all-time leading scorer is hoping these numbers only increase heading into this season.
