It looks like the Houston Texans' defense will be just fine without Brian Cushing.
The Texans scuffled a week ago in their first game without the star linebacker, but bounced back Sunday with a dominant defensive performance in a 43-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Matt Schaub threw for two touchdowns, Arian Foster ran for two more and the defense had a score and added a safety to help Houston bounce back from a 42-24 loss to Green Bay last week.
''When you lose (Cushing) and all of the sudden you come in last week, it's human nature to say: `OK, how are we going to be?' coach Gary Kubiak said. ''We walked out here and didn't feel good about it last week. What we found out today, we can still play great defense and expect to do that the rest of the year.''
Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said the team needed a game like this to forget about last week.
''We wanted to come out and make a statement,'' Phillips said. '...

So far this weekend, every game in the NFL has been decided by a touchdown or less, with just one exception. The Texans bounced back from an embarrassing loss to the Packers by thoroughly embarrassing someone else. The Texans beat the Ravens earlier this afternoon an astounding 43-13. The key to the beat down was the Texans' ability to shut down the Ravens offense in a dominating...
Ben Tate has a strained hamstring, an injury picked up in Sunday's statement win over the Baltimore Ravens.
The Texans can probably be excused for having one eye on New Orleans in February and should the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC not go through Houston, then it's safe to assume that something calamitous would have taken place between now and Week 17.
Texans running back Arian Foster bounced back from a 29-yard effort last week against Green Bay by carrying the ball 19 times for 98 yards and two scores Sunday in a win over Baltimore.Fantasy Spin:Foster has a league-best nine rushing touchdowns in seven games this season. Six of those scores have come in Houston's last four games. Fantasy owners will have a tough time replacing...
The Houston Texans proved on Sunday afternoon that they are indeed the team to beat in the AFC. But even more so, with a 43-13 rout of the Ravens, the Texans firmly asserted themselves as the best team in the NFL.
Okay, so the Atlanta Falcons are still undefeated and playing about as well as any team in football. But even a perfect record can't strip the Texans of their title...
If you haven't heard the hype over Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt yet, you probably don't watch football much. Watt already has 34 tackles and 9.5 sacks after week 7 this year. Absolutely huge numbers to go along with a huge frame. The guy is just a beast, it's a strait up fact.
Along with his numbers, he also provides the Texans with some good laughs...
J.J. Watt had a microphone on this past Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. He lets Ravens running back Ray Rice know, “I have eaten burritos bigger than you.” Watch it here. (Excuse the sound quality) Disclaimer: We do not own this video, we are sharing it for entertainment purposes only.
In an impressive bounce back game, the Houston Texans finally defeated the Baltimore Ravens for the first time in franchise history with a score of 43-13. The defense looked like their old self, while the offense took to the air to rack up yards against a depleted Ravens team.
Head Coach Gary Kubiak showed some determination by not letting off the gas and kept pounding the football...
The Houston Texans hosted the Baltimore Ravens in a game that had immediate and future implications on the seating in the AFC. In this game, both teams were playing for the top seed in the AFC. The Texans had a little bit extra to play for as they were bulldozed the previous week by the Packers and the Texans needed a good showing. The Texans also needed to win this game after coming...
Sunday’s contest between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens was billed as a likely AFC Championship Game preview. If that is so, fans in Houston must be dancing today. From about the eight minute mark in the first quarter, this one was all Texans as they cruised to a thirty point thrashing of the Ravens; their first win over Baltimore in franchise history.
A week after...
