The Houston Texans announced they have resigned outside linebacker DeLano Johnson who spent the entire 2012 season on the practice squad. Johnson came to Houston as an undrafted free agent from Bowie State and made an impression in training camp to make the practice squad.
Johnson is a gifted athlete who measures at 6-4 and 280 lbs. which is much-needed size at the outside linebacker position. It will be interesting to see if Johnson can make a bigger step for the Texans this offseason and put himself in position to make the final 53 coming out of the 2013 training camp.
Something to watch is the fact Johnson is being kept on the roster, especially with the disappointment the outside linebackers brought during the 2012 season. Johnson could be a sleeper to for the Texans in 2013.
We interviewed Johnson during the 2012 training camp. You can listen to it here.
