Yesterday the Texans locked up one of the best defensive ends on the market by signing Antonio Smith to a five year deal.I'll be writing about it more tonight, but this guy has work in 30 minutes. In the meantime here's some more details.Quick thoughts though since I have time. He's big and young. The Texans now have two monster sized guys on at defensive end.The Texans think he has a lot of potential. They have a knack for spotting this (see Walter, Kevin; Schaub, Matt; etc...).He's a definite upgrade, and I like the fact that the Texans are being aggressive this off season.Even if he doesn't turn out to be spectacular I like the move. The top of the draft is a bit lighter on defensive ends than it has been in previous years, so the Texans took the sure-fire upgrade and locked up Smith. Perhaps now the Texans will be looking to pick up a stud LB in this linebacker-heavy draft.
