According to NFL.com’s Albert Breer it looks like Ed Reed will be playing football for the Houston Texans. In a text from Reed to Breer, he told him that he plans to sign with Houston. Reed played his whole career in Baltimore looks to close that chapter after winning a Super Bowl as a Raven. Last week Reed went to Houston to talk with the Texans front office, but he did not agree to deal. Now it seems that he has agreed in principle to play for the Texans. John Harbaugh, who coached Ed in Baltimore, texted NFL.com about Reed leaving the team. In his text he wrote, “Ed is a great friend and player. I will always appreciate our time together.” With early reports coming out of the deal, Reed will plan to make around $4 million per year for three years. When Harbaugh was at the NFL owners meetings this week reporters asked him if he thought Ed would came back to play in Baltimore. John told them, “On the hopeful scale, I’d say it’s of high hope. It’s high on the measuring stick. We’ll just have to see how it works out.” As the Texans were courting Reed to play for them last week. Miami alums and Texans players Andre Johnson and Chris Myers went out to dinner with Reed to help convince him to play in Houston. The Ravens are losing players left and right to free agency. So far Anquan Boldin, Paul Kruger, Dannell Ellerbe, and Bernard Pollard are gone. Some current Ravens players are upset at this new Ravens trend. Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith went on Twitter to voice his concern saying, “No Reed or Ray in Baltimore????? This season is gonna be weird.” The Super Bowl hangover is going to be a lot much harder to avoid for the Ravens with all these notable players going to play for other teams.
