(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By CHRIS DUNCAN AP Sports Writer The Houston Texans scored at least 27 points in each of their first four games, all victories. The offense hasn't run quite as smoothly in the last two, and looked downright sloppy at times in Sunday's 42-24 loss to Green Bay. Matt Schaub was sacked three times and threw two interceptions, Arian Foster was held to 29 yards rushing and the Texans (5-1) mustered only 321 yards overall. Next up is Baltimore (5-1), a team that stifled Houston's offense twice last season. The Ravens defense isn't what it used to be, and has lost star linebacker Ray Lewis and cornerback Lardarius Webb. But Houston coach Gary Kubiak is focused on his team's offense, specifically its inconsistent ground attack.

Texans Bring Back Logan Brock

The Houston Texans brought back tight end Logan Brock to the practice squad to fill a void that was left by rookie tight end Phillip Supernaw who was injured in practice this week. Supernaw beat out Logan for an invite back to the practice squad after cuts were made after the final preseason game. Brock is a 6-3 and 248 lbs. and he was signed before camp out of TCU, where he...

David Hunter Added To Active Roster

After the season ending injury to defensive end Tim Jamison, the Houston Texans have promoted rookie defensive lineman David Hunter from the practice squad. Hunter was signed as an undrafted free agent from the University of Houston (Waller H.S.) and he impressed in training camp to earn a spot with the team. At times, he worked both defensive end and nose tackle for the Texans during...

Antonio Smith: “We just didn’t make the plays when we had the opportunity”

Texans’ defensive end Antonio Smith saw first hand how explosive the Green Bay Packers offense can be. Aaron Rodger shredded the Texans defense for six touchdowns. Houston is now 5-1, and many in the NFL world are watching how they respond against another high powered offense this weekend in the Baltimore Ravens. Smith knows it’s about making plays, and the Texans defense didn’t...

If Terrell Suggs plays Sunday, does it hurt or help the Houston Texans?

Word out of Baltimore Ravens’ camp this week is that reigning defensive player of the year Terrell Suggs is set to play this Sunday on the road against the Houston Texans. Suggs, who suffered an Achilles injury back in April, was activated off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list this week and practiced Wednesday for the first time. Despite the incredibly short timetable...

Do the Houston Texans have a fear of the limelight?

Coming off a dominant 4-0 start, the Houston Texans played the past two weeks in nationally televised, primetime games against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. In both contests, the Texans did not appear to put their best foot forward, playing down to the level of a struggling Jets team before getting blown out by a Packers...

Houston Texans blown out 42-24 by Packers for 1st loss of season

After starting the season 5-0 the Houston Texans suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday night against the visiting Green Bay Packers and their red hot QB Aaron Rodgers. The Texans never really looked into this game to me all night. After stopping the Packers offense on their first possession of the game the Texans got called for a neutral zone infraction and gave the ball...

Texans' offense struggled in 1st loss of season

HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Texans scored at least 27 points in each of their first four games, all impressive victories. The offense hasn't operated quite as smoothly in the last two games, and looked sloppy in Sunday night's 42-24 loss to Green Bay. Matt Schaub was sacked three times and threw two interceptions, Arian Foster was held to 29 yards rushing and the Texans...

AFC South week in review: Does anybody know what's going on out there?

Only in the wild and wacky NFL could we have a week like this past one. The Colts, fresh off their most inspirational win in awhile, came out flat as a pancake against the New York Jets. The Tennessee Titans, left for dead after bumbling their way to another loss in Minnesota, somehow took down the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. And strangest of all, the previously undefeated Houston...

Texans' ground game gains importance

In Gary Kubiak's seventh season as Houston's coach, the Texans have become more of a running team than a passing team. One reason the Texans are 5-1 entering Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens at Reliant Stadium is because they continue to lead the NFL in average time of possession at 34 minutes and 54 seconds. They've ranked first or second in that statistic...

Behind enemy lines: Texans Q&As

Texans coach Gary Kubiak and DE J.J. Watt spoke with the Baltimore media on a conference call Wednesday. Here's what they had to say.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans: Three Bold Predictions

The 5-1 Baltimore Ravens will take on the 5-1 Houston Texans on Sunday at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, in a rematch from last year's AFC Divisional playoff game that the Ravens won by a score of 20-13.The Ravens are coming off a 31-29 victory over the Dallas Cowboys last week, in which quarterback Joe Flacco threw for 234 yards and one touchdown. Running back Ray Rice rushed...

Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans: Week 7 NFL Pick

Baltimore Ravens (5-1) at Houston Texans (5-1) This is a very interesting game for a number of reasons. The most obvious is Baltimore’s injuries. This line was at -4 a week ago, but because of Baltimore’s injuries, it’s shifted 3 points, even though Baltimore won and Houston got blown out at home. In spite of that, we still are getting a slight public lean on Houston. Houston...

Week 7 Power Rankings: Texans on shaky ground but maintain top spot

The NFL is a reactionary league. With only 16 games on the schedule, each one matters and its hard not to overreact to what is, in reality, a small sample size. Teams (like the Arizona Cardinals, say) can go from perceived legitimate contenders to nobodies overnight (a loss to the Bills tends to have that …

Schaub a smart start against BAL

In an age of pinball-like numbers and huge point totals, it was refreshing to turn on Thursday's battle between the 49ers and Seahawks and see a defensive battle. I had joked that the game might come down to a showdown between Steven Hauschka and David Akers, and that nearly came to fruition. The opening salvo for Week 7 hardly included highlight moments for either offense. ...
