Texans’ Playmaker Hints That Stefon Diggs Asked For Trade
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, and if you believe Texans running back Joe Mixon, this may have been brewing for a while.

Following the trade, Mixon took to social media to hint that Diggs actually asked to be dealt.

It’s important to note that in the middle of March, Diggs made this rather cryptic post to his X account.

Perhaps this is what Mixon is referring to?

Whatever the case may be, the Bills traded Diggs to the Texans for a 2025 second-round draft pick. Buffalo also sent a 2024 fifth-round pick and a 2025 sixth-rounder Houston’s way in the deal.

This marks the second time Diggs has been traded in his career.

The Bills initially acquired Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings in 2020, and the wide out went on to spend the next four years in Buffalo.

Prior to joining the Bills, Diggs had never made a Pro Bowl, but he proceeded to make the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons in Buffalo, adding a First-Team All-Pro selection to boot.

This past season, the 30-year-old hauled in 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.

While those numbers look great on the surface, Diggs actually had a very strange campaign. He logged five 100-yard performances over his first six games of 2023, but then did not register a single 100-yard outing the rest of the way.

This led some to speculate that Diggs was injured, although Diggs insisted he was healthy. Some also felt that his could have been a sign of a disconnect between the University of Maryland product and quarterback Josh Allen.

The Bills also appeared to be fed up with Diggs, whose public displays of discontent became far too frequent for Buffalo’s liking.

At this point, whether the Bills sent Diggs packing because they grew tired of him or because he asked out is fairly immaterial. What matters is that Stefon Diggs is now a member of the Texans, and he will actually face his now-former Bills squad next season.
