According to Fox Sports, Houston Texans quarterback coach has been offered the offensive coordinator position under new Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen. Allen and Knapp worked together in Atlanta as assistants, and Knapp has been the offensive coordinator for the Raiders before during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, the connections are there.
Knapp was talked to earlier in the season by Auburn University about possibly becoming their offensive coordinator, but the Tigers decided to go another route and bypass Knapp. Knapp got high praise for working with backup quarterbacks Matt Leinart and T.J. Yates and especially with Yates making him serviceable despite being a rookie 5th round draft pick. Even the quarterbacks have talked about how well Knapp keeps them prepared as players for the game.
This opprotunity seems a little more real for Knapp, and it feels like Gary Kubiak might be on the lookout for a new quarterbacks coach within the next few weeks.
