The Texans have agreed to terms with free agent linebacker Tim Dobbins, David Canter, Dobbins’ agent, announced on Twitter.
Terms were not disclosed.
A 2006 fifth-round pick out of Iowa State by the San Diego Chargers, Dobbins recorded 151 tackles, one quarterback sack and two interceptions in his first four seasons in the NFL. A restricted free agent last offseason, Dobbins was traded to the Miami Dolphins as part of the Chargers’ draft day trade to move up to select running back Ryan Mathews in the first round.
Signed to a two-year extension by the Dolphins last June, the 6-foot-1, 246-pound inside linebacker started six of 16 games for Miami, posting 47 tackles and a quarterback sack. The Dolphins released Dobbins for salary cap purposes earlier this week.
