The Texans have signed Owen Daniels to a four-year deal worth $22 million, just a day after tendering him as a restricted free agent. Daniels, a former Pro Bowler, is instrumental to the team’s offense, but failed to bring consistent production in 2010 due to injuries.

Over the past two seasons Daniels has only played in 19 of 32 games, but apparently he is too important to the team to be let go simply because of injury troubles. This year, he was recovering from knee surgery he had in 2009 on top of a hamstring injury he suffered very early on.

Joel Dreissen and James Casey are capable backups, but the Texans need Daniels to reach their full potential as an offense.
