The 9-1 Houston Texans look to defeat the 4-6 Detroit Lions in a Thanksgiving Day Week 12 matchup.  The Lions are coming off a disappointing 24-20 home loss to their division rival Green Bay Packers while the AFC leading Texans are looking to extend their four game win streak.  This is the Texans first Thanksgiving Day game and only second ever trip to Detroit, a game they lost in 2004.  The Lions, on the other hand, play this game on an annual basis but haven’t won it in 9 years. Two big impact players with previous injuries that have a chance to play this game are Ben Tate for the Texans and safety Louis Delmas for the Lions.  Ben Tate’s return from an ailing hamstring injury that has kept him on the shelf for 3 games would bolster an offense that relies on the running attack. “I think (Tate) has a good chance (of playing),” Kubiak said.  After Tuesday’s practice, Kubiak appeared even more encouraged by saying, “Ben (Tate) worked harder than the whole team today.  I listed him as ...

Owen Daniels breaks out 'Turkey Carver' dance

A fresh touchdown served up by Texans’ tight end Owen Daniels during Thanksgiving day game against the Lions. Daniels proceeded to celebrate by cutting a turkey and passing it out to his fans.Six points not six drumsticks.

Matt Schaub Got Kicked Below the Belt by Ndamukong Suh (Video)

The Thanksgiving Day games are under way with the Houston Texans taking on the Detroit Lions in game 1.  The Lions desperately need a victory to stay in playoff contention, and it looks like Ndamukong Suh is up for anything.  Matt Schaub dropped back to pass in the first quarter and Suh rolled over the offensive lineman and accidentally kicked Schaub in his man parts.  Schaub...

Video: Owen Daniels scores touchdown, pretends to carve turkey

Well, it's Turkey Day. It's a day for Americans to indulge in two of their favorite things: food and football. And what better way to celebrate a touchdown than by displaying a blend of both? Houston Texans tight end Owens Daniels did precisely that on Thursday after corralling a TD pass from Matt Schaub late in the second quarter. Watch as he begins the celebratory...

Suh's foot in another Thanksgiving controversy

DETROIT Turkey legs and an Ndamukong Suh foot Thanksgiving traditions. A year ago, Suh the controversial defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions was in the spotlight when he stomped on Green Bay offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith during the annual Thanksgiving Day game at Ford Field. It led to a two-game suspension. This time, Suh kicked Houston quarterback Matt Schaub in...

Andre Johnson On Fire Last Two Weeks

Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson enjoyed his second overtime period in four days Thursday against the Lions. Johnson caught nine balls for 188 yards on 15 targets in another Houston victory.Fantasy Spin:Johnson has exploded the last two weeks for 461 yards, 43.6 percent of his yardage total for the season (1,058). It's doubtful any of the secondaries he faces in the next three...

Texans get controversial TD vs. Lions

Houston's Justin Forsett scored on an 81-yard touchdown run in the third quarter Thursday against the Detroit Lions, even though replays clearly showed his knee touching the ground near midfield. It appeared Detroit coach Jim Schwartz helped the touchdown stand by throwing his challenge flag. The TD counted and Detroit was called for unsportsmanlike conduct. A Lions spokesman...

Watch: Justin Forsett’s blown call TD

The holidays are upon us, and evidently the NFL Referees are in the spirit of giving. In Thanksgiving’s Lions/Texans match-up, the Refs blew a call leading to an 80 yard touchdown by Texans RB Justin Forsett. As you can see in the video below, Forsett was clearly down with both his knee and his elbow, but the refs missed the call and awarded a touchdown. Usually all scores are...

Owen Daniels Probable For Thursday

Texans' tight end Owen Daniels is probable for Thursday's game against Detroit after catching six balls for 57 yards in the game versus Jacksonville.Fantasy Spin:As recently as last Friday it looked like Daniels would be on the shelf for Week 11, but he managed to play and come out of the game without re-injuring the hip.

Texans Get Gift TD Due to Pathetic Refs and Jim Schwartz Ineptitude (video)

The Houston Texans were handed a gift TD into today’s Thanksgiving matchup at Detroit that will probably go down as one of the worst calls by a referee this season. What makes the situation even worse is the play would have been overturned due to overwhelming evidence that Texans RB Justin Forsett was down on an automatic review for all touchdowns. However, Lions head coach Jim...

Houston-Detroit Justin Forsett Fiasco: The Rules For Review Must Be Reviewed

The Houston Texans scored a touchdown on the Detroit Lions today that completely baffles me. Never mind the fact that the referees often seem to be watching a different game than everybody else. Sure, we have the benefit of instant replay, but so do the refs. That is why the rules for review have got to be changed.Anyways, the runner was clearly down, but got up and ran into the...

Gunther Cunningham punts playbook after bad call (Video)

After a questionable Justin Forsett touchdown run, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham was not too pleased with the referees. Below is his reaction the referees inability to review the play since Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz had thrown his challenge flag on a play that is already reviewed: (Courtesy of SB Nation)

Detroit Lions: Week 12 NFL Power Rankings (#25)

Last week: 19 (-6) Record: 4-6 I’ve said it a bunch of times this year, but every year, one team goes from in the playoffs to 5 wins or fewer. It’s looked like a shaky prediction as times this year, especially since every single playoff team from last year is 5-5 or better right now, except one (Saints and Bengals are both 5-5, so they’re still technically candidates). The...

Mistake By Lions Coach Jim Schwartz Allows Texans' Bogus TD To Stand

Coach Jim Schwartz was shown on the sidelines after Justin Forsett's stunning 81-yard touchdown saying, "That's on me." Forsett appeared to be down after a short gain on a second-and-10 play. Replays, in fact, showed he was down but the whistle never blew and Forsett rolled over and kept running. All scoring plays are automatically reviewed, but in his haste...

Backup quarterbacks are useful in evaluating young guns

This weekend, the Houston Texans nearly dropped a game to one of the worst teams in the NFL. It was an offensive shootout with little defense to speak of from either team, and the Texans emerged from overtime with the victory. The other story line that came from the Texans near-miss was the possible end of the Blaine Gabbert era in Jacksonville. After leaving the game early with...
