Found July 28, 2012 on State of the Texans:
Today was a the opening day of Texans 2012 Training Camp, and there was a buzz in the air. So much 5,012 fans showed up as early as 2 a.m. before the gates opened at 7 a.m. Plenty of notes on today’s camp.     Camp Notes   - The first hour of practice was outside, but was soon moved inside. The reason was that they wanted the team to get “acclimated” to the heat. -  Offensive lineman Kasey Studdard was signed to take the place of Thomas Austin because of a hamstring injury. Austin was on the bike majority of practice. Also punter Brett Hartmann also is out and was placed on the Active/Non-Football Illness list. - As for Studdard, he stepped right in with the third string offensive group and looked comfortable with the position. His conditioning might be in question, he looked gassed by the end of the first hour of practice. - Linebacker Darryl Sharpton was put on the Physically Unable to Perform list because of his quad injury from last season. Sharpton was running on the far field, and didn’t look to far off from a return to the practice field. - Matt Schaub looked like he is having no issues with last year’s season ending foot injury. He rolled out, threw on the run and looked good early in practice throwing the ball. - Andre Johnson looks like a man on a mission in camp. He was a full go from the first pass of camp which went to him. There is no mistake that he wants to prove his doubters wrong, and he displayed what makes him good, precision routes and catching the football. Johnson was taking his spare time to work on the jugs machine catching passes with Owen Daniels when the Texans went inside the bubble. - Bryan Braman had a tough day today. He looked like he was struggling with the heat, and linebacker coach Reggie Herrring was letting him know his displeasure of his effort at practice. - Keshawn Martin had some nice catches in 7 on 7. Martin does a good job of getting north and south in a hurry when he touches the ball. - Juaquin Iglesias had the catch of the day over Shiloh Keo on a deep pass from John Beck. Iglesias went over Keo and lost his helmet on the way down. - Justin Forsett showed his versatility running and catching the ball today. When he gets in the open field he made some people miss, it will be interesting to see how they will use him during the season. - Arian Foster looks like the same Foster from the previous two seasons, he looks lean and has his trademark glide when he was running with the football. - Bryant Johnson looks fit and in great shape. He was signed on Thursday, and looks nothing of his previous self from the end of last season. - T.J. Yates looks to be progressing really well from year one to two. He is one of the many Texans who look leaner and he looks stronger, especially throwing the football. He looked good on the first day running the offense, and his pocket presence was a nice surprise.   Look for more updates tomorrow.    You can follow Patrick on Twitter.  He is the Editor of State of the Texans and is a draft analyst on Sideline Scouting.

Connor Barwin arrived at training camp sporting a Gary Kubiak-replica haircut, a flat-topped crew cut. James brings vet presence to young defense

HOUSTON For some, the trading of veteran linebacker DeMeco Ryans to the Eagles on March 20 was a haphazard disregard of not only one of the more popular players in franchise history, but a defensive stalwart. Never mind that Ryans was slowed by a preseason elbow injury and the rebuilt Achilles' tendon that sidelined him in 2010, or that he wasn't an ideal fit in the new...
