- Once the offense started rolling, they looked like we expected the Texans offense to look this year.
- Chris Brown is still uninjured. I know this is a jinx of epic proportions, but if it's going to happen soon anyways, how much of a jinx can I really be adding?
- Neither Steve Slaton nor Andre Johnson appear to have been injured during this preseason game. I know, I'm like a jinxing machine. I'll deal with it.
- Aside from the first defensive play, we actually played like we had a different defensive coordinator.
- Ummm...no meteors landed on Reliant Stadium.
- On the very first play of the game, it looked like Richard Smith was still calling defenses for the Texans.
- Matt Schaub looks like he got injured without a cheap shot.
- The Texans were maddeningly inconsistent in all aspects of the game, going from looking like a legitmate playoff team, to looking like a team that would be lucky to win 4 games this year.
Honestly that pretty much sums up the game. As always, there was some good, and some bad.
If one were to just focus on the good, the season looks promising. If you focus on just the bad, the season looks like the Raiders season.
Matt Schaub showed that he is still capable of getting into a rythym and marching up and down the field. Dan Orlovsky showed why he was signed by Kubiak. Unfortunately, he also showed why he wasn't signed by anyone else.
The rest of the Texans showed that they may or may not be ready to take the leap into the post-season.
Right now, I'm working on my 6th Shiner of the night and my 9th beer overall. I realize that this isn't much for some people, but for me, it's enough to dull my inhibitions. As a result of this, I'm going to post this rather immediate reaction and when other points of discussion come up, tomorrow afternoon for instance, I'll address them then. Yeehaw!
