On the 8th day of Christmas the NFL gave to me…a win in Reliant Stadium! Team Panthers delivered a little holiday cheer to Panther nation by returning Uptown with a huge victory against the Houston Texans and their number one NFL defense. It was obvious that the Panthers didn’t give a Jingle-Bell about the Texans status because the Carolina defense was on a mission to destroy all things Texans, and did so by causing Arian Foster to fumble 2 plays into the game, the perfect set up for Cam Newton to unwrap Steve Smith into the End-Zone and jump out to an early lead. Panther fans were very excited, but didn’t want to drink the Egg-Nogg just yet! It seemed as if the Carolina Defense had taken a page (or 10) out of the Texans play-book because they were able to hold the rookie QB and Texans offense to no scoring drives the entire first half forcing another turnover and limiting Houston to punts. Their high level of play transcended to the Offense who, although had a few disturbing penalt...

Cam Newton Looks Like A Leader

The scene is familiar to any Carolina Panther's fan this season: Panthers squandering an early lead, Cam Newton sulking on the sidelines with a towel over his head as we suffer another loss.  While Cam is certainly one of the most electrifying players in the NFL, he can at times look and sound like a spoiled child.  The intangible leadership qualities that pro scouts look...

Newton helps end Texans' win streak

Cam Newton threw two touchdown passes, DeAngelo Williams ran for a score and the Carolina Panthers ended Houston's seven-game winning streak with a 28-13 win over the Texans on Sunday. Newton completed 13-of-23 passes for 149 yards and added 55 rushing yards for Carolina (5-9), which has won three of its last four games. Rookie T.J. VID: Panthers’ trick-play TD inspired by movie “Little Giants”

In yesterday afternoon’s 28-13 victory over the Houston Texans, the Carolina Panthers ran a rather unconventional trick play in the red zone– in which Cam Newton faked a run to the right while slipping the ball quickly to Panthers tight end Richie Brockel who swung around the left side untouched for a touchdown:   This play very closely resembles a play in football...

The 4-9 Carolina Panthers are coming to the Bayou City to square off against the 10-3, AFC South Division Champion (has such a nice ring to it) Houston Texans.  Here are three things to watch for in Sunday’s game.   Cam Newton against the #1 defense in the NFL: Cam Newton has silenced his critics en route to a spectacular rookie season, the likes of which have rarely, if...

Panthers Chudzinski's playbook has no limits

By STEVE REEDCHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski has a bag full of tricks and he's not afraid to use them -- even if it means borrowing a play from a kids' movie. With Cam Newton under center, Chudzinski is finding fun news ways to use the talented rookie's athleticism to his advantage. The latest twist was borrowing a hidden-ball trick...

Houston Texans Loss Comes With a Side of Joy

Watching today’s game in which the Carolina Panthers manhandled the buffoonish Houston Texans was rather painful. It seemed as if T.J. Yates regressed to his college days while the defense took a day off. Apparently Ben Tate did not get the memo that he was a power rusher either as he continually got stuffed in the run game. Arian Foster was, perhaps, the lone bright light for...

Texans Mauled by Panthers

The Texans were mauled by the Panthers 28-13 at Reliant Stadium. Fantasy Spin: Quarterback T.J. Yates was coming off his first career 300-yard performance, but lost momentum today as he completed 19 of 30 passes for 212 yards, with zero touchdowns against two costly interceptions. Stud running back Arian Foster took care of business for fantasy owners though, as he bruised his way...
