Texas Tech’s prodigal son has returned in first year head coach Kliff Kingsbury. The first in the long line of Air Raid quarterbacks under former coach Mike Leach is back in the South Plains of Texas to revive the Red Raiders program, which lost momentum under Leach’s replacement Tommy Tubberville.

Texas Tech should be considered a real threat to the Big 12 Title. Although Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are the clear favorites, I would not sleep on the Red Raiders. A huge determinant of Texas Tech’s success against Kansas will be the Red Raiders’ proficiency in the red zone. And on paper, this aspect of the game looks like a definite advantage for the homestanding Jayhawks.
Defensively, the Texas Tech Red Raiders implement a similar scheme to that of Kansas and when the two teams meet Saturday morning and Memorial Stadium, it’ll be up to the Jayhawks to combat Tech’s speed with power and strength.
