The 10 best options to 'roast' Tennessee Vols legend and NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Netflix's "roast" of soon-to-be Hall of Famer Tom Brady this past weekend was a wild success, which has us thinking that Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning should be the streaming service's next roast "victim".

Manning appeared at Brady's roast and threw a few jabs at his old friend/rival, making the former Vol the perfect option to next sit in the seat that Brady occupied on Sunday evening.

Manning has a great sense of humor and he would be a great sport while dishing out some hilarious jokes himself.

Of course, the biggest question surrounding a potential Manning roast is "who would do the roasting?"

I think we have 10 perfect candidates that could handle the job.

(These are in no particular order.)

1. Tom Brady

You have to start with Brady -- that's an obvious choice. The rivalry between Manning and Brady in the 2000s/early 2010s was one of the best player vs player rivalries we've ever seen in sports. It would only be right that Brady gets a chance to repay Manning if Netflix ever decides to roast the former Vol.

2. Eli and Cooper Manning

This one feels obvious, too. The Manning brothers love to give each other a hard time -- that's part of what makes the ManningCast on Monday nights so enjoyable. Eli and Cooper definitely deserve a chance to take a few shots at their Hall of Fame brother.

3. Jeff Saturday

Saturday was Manning's center for over a decade. While the two are undoubtedly close, they butted heads from time to time. Saturday likely has a wealth of embarrassing Manning stories that he could share in a comical way.

4. Steve Spurrier

Manning never beat Spurrier and the Florida Gators during his time at Tennessee. Considering Spurrier's undying love for throwing jabs at his rivals, he'd be a perfect option to take the stage at a roast of Peyton.

5. Bill Belichick

Another obvious one. Belichick coached against Manning 17 times in the NFL (including the playoffs), going 11-6 in those matchups. It's fair to say that Manning likely has a lot more hardware in his trophy case if not for Belichick and Brady. They were easily the biggest thorns in Manning's side during his lengthy NFL career.

6. Charles Woodson

Most Tennessee fans still feel like Peyton was robbed of the Heisman in 1997 when the award went to Michigan's Charles Woodson. For the last two-plus decades, Woodson has heard from plenty of Vols fans that he shouldn't have won the award over Manning.

7. Mike Vanderjagt

Who can forget Manning talking about the Colts' "idiot kicker" getting liquored up during the Pro Bowl back in 2003? That kicker, of course, was Mike Vanderjaqt.

A roast of Peyton could give Vanderjaqt a chance at some revenge.

8. Marvin Harrison/Reggie Wayne

I'm not sure Harrison or Wayne would have too many jokes to lob at Manning, considering the three players made quite the trio for the Colts. But considering how important they were to Manning's career, they have to be included.

9. Ryan Leaf

The great debate in 1998 was whether or not Peyton or Ryan Leaf should be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. The Colts obviously went with Peyton while Leaf went to the Chargers. Due to injuries and poor decision making, Leaf's NFL career ended after just four years. Leaf now often appears on the NFL Network.

10. Kirby Smart

Manning and Smart competed against each other in the SEC when Smart was a defensive back at Georgia. The current Bulldogs head coach has remained close friends with Manning over the years. Smart, despite his intense demeanor, has a great sense of humor. I have no doubt that he'd have some fun roasting Manning. And the Vols would almost certainly catch a few strays.
