The Super Bowl is traditionally one of the most watched sporting events on television in the world. And due to its massive viewership ratings, companies are willing to fork out nearly $4 million for a 30-second slot to reach consumers. Only the best of the best commercials make it into the most marketable game on television. Why else would you pay that kind of money?Over time, there have been some great ads to air during the broadcast. This has made the annual event even more alluring for advertisers due to the buzz it creates leading up, during, and after the game. In fact, some may even argue that the commercials are more popular than the game itself.With this in mind, here is a look back at 10 of the most memorable Super Bowl ads of all-time:1) Apple - "1984" (1984)This was the ad which introduced the Mac computer to the world. It has widely been lauded as one of the most memorable and successful American television commercials of all-time. Its only daytime televised broadcast in the United States came during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII.2) Coca-Cola - "Mean Joe Green" (1980)Okay, so technically this didn't debut during the Super Bowl, it first aired in the fall of 1979, but it is still consistently voted as one of the best Super Bowl ads of all-time. Who doesn't like this heart-warming clip? Fun fact: The footage was shot in 1979 in a small stadium in Mount Vernon, NY.3) Reebok - "Office Linebacker" (2003)Reebok hit it big during Super Bowl XXXVII with office linebacker "Terrible" Terry Tate. The ad was actually part of a series of short comedy television commercials. There were a total of nine episodes in all, however, this SB one definitely stands out from the rest.4) Budweiser - "Talking Frogs" (1995)Budweiser couldn't go wrong with three lifelike frogs aptly named "Bud", "Weis", and "Er". The trio of amphibians croak in harmonious sequence to form the Budweiser name and subsequently one of the most well-known alcohol campaigns ever. Fun fact: The ad was directed by Gore Verbinksi, who also directed the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films.5) Volkswagen - "The Force" (2011)Volkswagen made an excellent choice when they decided to link their 2012 Passat with Star Wars. Oh, and they also linked their new car to childhood imagination, which proved to be well received by viewers. The company also shared the ad via YouTube and helped create buzz that way, as well.6) McDonalds - "Bird vs Jordan" (1993)The Golden Arches employed two basketball icons to co-star in this timeless classic. Larry Bird and Michael Jordan engage in an epic shooting contest in a battle over a Big Mac. The shots get so ridiculous that even the Harlem Globetrotters begin to realize their fake by the end. However, it is still an ad that is revered as one of the more memorable ones to this day.7) E*Trade - "Talking Baby" (2008)People really love the idea of babbling babies. They are cute, cuddly, and entertaining. It is amazing that E-Trade was the first company to really capitalize (no pun intended) on this idea by featuring a talking baby during Super Bowl XLII. Chalk one up for the little guys.8) Noxzema - "Joe Namath w/Farrah Fawcett" (1973)What do you get when you mesh a blonde bombshell with the New York Jets quarterback? The 1973 Noxzema ad featuring Farrah Fawcett and Joe Namath, of course. I would venture to say that this helped sell a few bottles of shaving cream, wouldn't you?9) EDS - "Cowboys Herding Cats" (2000)Although EDS got bought out by Hewlett Packard several years ago for $14B, they still managed to churn out a memorable Super Bowl ad. I really don't know what EDS stands for nor what they did, but I do know a group of cowboys trying to herd a group of cats is rather interesting to watch.10) FedEx - "Cast Away" (2003FedEx cashed in on the 2000 drama film "Cast Away" by recreating the film's ending scene. In the movie, we never get to see what was inside the box. However, FedEx cleverly reveals some items that may have been of use for actor Tom Hanks during his stranded stay on a faraway island.Okay, so there they are in all of their glory. Thoughts?
