Superman Found his KryptoniteAfter a record-shattering rookie season in 2011, Cam Newton is experiencing what is known as the "sophomore slump" in the NFL. Newton has a 2-5 touchdown to interception ratio, and hasn't been looking like the same guy he was last year. Although Newton has been putting up the an average of 267 yards per game (11th in the NFL), the Panthers are only averaging 17 points per game (30th in the NFL). Coming into the season, many people expected Cam Newton to take the next step this season, and possibly lead his team to the playoffs, but as each game passes, that looks more and more like a fantasy than a reality. It doesn't help that the rest of the Panthers' schedule looks like a punishment. Their next six games are against the likes of the Falcons, Seahawks, Cowboys, Bears, Redskins, and Broncos before getting a break against Tampa Bay team that could very well win if the Panthers continue to struggle. Hopefully Newton is able to shake ...

It’s been a rough week for Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. The Panthers are 1-2 and coming off a 36-7 beatdown at the hands of the New York Giants.
In the aftermath of the Giants game, Newton has been criticized for celebrating the Panthers’ lone touchdown when they were already down 23-0. And to top it off, he was seen sulking on the bench, which teammate Steve Smith didn’t...
The first three weeks of the NFL season hasn't exactly been kind to Carolina Panthers second-year quarterback Cam Newton.
After an embarrassing performance against the New York Giants last Thursday night, it appears that one local newspaper decided to take a shot at Cam in an editorial cartoon.
Watch as the cartoonist for the Charlotte Observer mocks Cam's Superman...
Cam Newton is under fire again because of the way he handles losing and how his disposition affects those around him.
I wrote in previous articles that no one wants a good loser around them, but a poor loser is even worse.
Newton was recently scolded by teammate Steve Smith for the way he handled last Thursday ugly loss to the Giants.
There are reports coming out that...
The Panthers’ 36-7 loss to the Giants was one of the most embarrassing in franchise history. Still, it’s only one loss – regardless of how much they were outplayed. I have faith that the inferior game planning, poor tackling or shoddy blocking can be fixed.
But the real question is, can they repair Cam Newton’s attitude?
My fellow Panthers 101 writer DJ Slotkis published...
After taking the weekend to digest the Giants complete deconstruction of the Panthers last Thursday, there are many things to be concerned about. The defense looked like Swiss cheese against Eli Manning and a motley crew of back up receivers. They also made Andre Brown, a guy who has been on six teams in three years, look like Terrell Davis as he rumbled through tackles all game...
Cam Newton's center, Ryan Kalil said of last Thursday's 36-7 loss to the New York Giants, "It was a frustrating night for everybody, really embarrassing for everybody."Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera echoed those sentiments, "We've got to realize and understand exactly what happened in that football game and learn from it." Later, Rivera added...
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Like brothers, Cam Newton and Steve Smith have already moved on after a brief moment of not seeing eye to eye.
Newton downplayed the criticism he received last week from Smith, saying he and his Pro Bowl receiver are still "on good terms" entering Carolina's showdown at Atlanta on Sunday.
Smith told reporters last week he chided Newton on the...
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith told the media on Wednesday that he should have kept his conversation with quarterback Cam Newton private.
“I shouldn’t have said anything,” Smith said, clarifying later that he meant he shouldn’t have said anything to the media, not to Newton, per Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer. “So that really falls on me. Hey, sometimes...
The last thing true competitors want after suffering a taste-altering defeat is to have to sit and stew about it for an extended period of time. Most want to get right back out there and eliminate the residue of the pain.
The Carolina Panthers had no option following their 36-7 home loss to the New York Giants last Thursday that was actually worse than the score indicates.

TAMPA, Fla. They have corralled Cam Newton and chased down Tony Romo, but the biggest test yet could come Sunday afternoon against a rookie quarterback who has become the talk of the National Football League.
Thats when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will do their best to contain the multi-threat talents of Washingtons Robert Griffin III, the singular reason that the Redskins currently...

Time to pull the Bait and Switch. Sell those players that are overachieving and buy those players that are underachieving. It’s pretty simple in theory, but you have to work the right deal to pull the Bait and Switch.
Matt Ryan owns the best passer rating in the NFL, and his unbeaten Atlanta Falcons are off to their best start in eight seasons.
Cam Newton is enduring a start to his second season with the Carolina Panthers that has been so difficult that he has been forced to deny that he is seeing a therapist.
Ryan and the Falcons have already built a two-game cushion atop the NFC South and...
