Packers linemen Erik Walden (from left) Ryan Pickett, and Desmond Bishop celebrate knocking down Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, breaking up a third down pass attempt. Curtis Compton / email@example.com
– The highlight of today’s press conference was coach Mike Smith’s detailed analysis on how the offense got side-tracked against the Packers. (A must read for all you play-calling is weak folks.)
Basically, there’s nothing wrong with the play calling. The offense shot itself in the foot with untimely penalties.
Well read it all for yourself.
Here’s what he had to say:
Opening Statement: Obviously, not the outcome that we wanted last night. We didn’t make the plays that we need to make, in terms of going down the stretch, and we didn’t get the outcome that we wanted.
On the offense’s play after the first two drives: The opening drive, we had a 13 play, 80 yard drive. We moved the ball very efficiently and effectively down the field, scored a

The Falcons made moves in the off-season to add even more firepower to the offense, but they have been stuck in reverse. Most of the reason for the lack of offense this year falls on the shoulders of 26-year old QB Matt Ryan. Ryan has played in all five games for the Falcons so far this year and he has completed 120 of 196 passes (61.2%) for 1,302 yards with 7 TD passes and 6...
ICE, ICE BABY
Matt Ryan is the quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons. He entered the league a few years back with a reputation for being cash in the clutch, a reputation that led to his spectacularly annoying nickname ‘Matty Ice’. Now in his fourth season, Matty Ice is 0-2 in the playoffs and is playing some of the worst football he’s ever played to begin 2011 while leading what was supposed...
Matt Ryan is supposed to be one of the NFL's rising stars at quarterback.
The ratings tell a different story.
Matty Ice is down near the bottom of the list, close to guys such as Chad Henne and Rex Grossman. Certainly, the Falcons expected more from their fourth-year quarterback than an efficiency rating that puts him 21st in the league.
Ryan will concede that he's not...
Matt Ryan threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Roddy White, and the Atlanta Falcons took a 7-0 lead over the Green Bay Packers after one quarter Sunday night.
An 80-yard, 13 play drive that took nearly 7 minutes off the first quarter clock, ended with a 7-0 Falcons lead, but the Packers also moved the ball on their first drive, but a Ryan Grant fumble was costly.Matt Ryan again moved the Falcons … [visit site to read more]Packers vs. Falcons – first half thoughts - Lombardi Ave - Lombardi Ave - A Green Bay Packers Fan Site - News...
The Falcons were great in the first half last night as they were winning 14-6…..but in the second half they were awful on both sides of the ball and it cost them this game. Matt Ryan didn’t play well at all last night as he completed 18 of 32 passes for 167 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs. He also carried the ball 3 times for 9 yards (3.0 ypc) in this game. Michael Turner...
Fans and fantasy owners settled in for a highly-anticipated and high-scoring affair between the Packers and Falcons to close out Sunday's action. They received an exciting game and more brilliance from Aaron Rodgers following a slow start. (Any thoughts after watching your former teams do battle, Mr. Favre?). However, most of our other would-be fantasy heroes left us flat.
Rushing Offense: C
Having a healthy Ryan Grant and James Starks available didnt help Green Bays rushing offense Sunday. And unlike Week 4 against Denver, Aaron Rodgers wasnt able to break away for any big runs or touchdowns.
Grant struggled in his return from a one-week absence after being out with a bruised kidney. He had a key first quarter fumble that Atlanta capitalized on...
Another week, another Packers victory.
Although this one wasn’t pretty, it was still an impressive performance by the Green Bay Packers.
The game started with everything going against the Packers. The Falcons offense seemed to be moving at will against the Packers defense. Ryan Grant fumbled away the ball on a good-looking drive and Chad Clifton was carted into the locker room...
Each week after every game, win or lose, I will grade the performance of the Falcons’ Offense, Defense, Special Teams and coaches.Offense (B-) – The Offense earns a B- this week. The grade could have been lower, but the first two drives were amazing, exactly the way the falcons want to play. After that though the falcons scored zero points! That is not good enough, I put part...
White gets taken down
The Falcons started strong, but were unable to sustain their momentum with a 25-14 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Falcons offense was shut out in the second half, and now the team’s record drops to 2-3.
Matt Ryan completed 18 of 32 passes for 167 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Both picks came in the fourth quarter with the Falcons trying...

A number of Packers players were not pleased with the way the Atlanta Falcons played Sunday according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Several players complained of hits after the whistle and low blocks late. "Its unnecessary, defensive end Ryan Pickett said. They call it playing physical. But its after the whistle. Its not physical. We know...
