QB has turned into a Black Hole once again for the Cardinals in 2011.  The Cardinals traded for 27-year old Kevin Kolb after the lockout was lifted and he has not been the answer so far this year.  Kolb has played in 7 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has completed 129 of 227 passes (56.8%) for 1,706 yards with 8 TD passes and 8 INTs (77.8 QB Rating).  Kolb has also carried the ball 14 times for 45 yards (3.2 ypc) so far this year.  Kolb has been injured lately, which opened the door for 23-year old QB John Skelton.  The Cardinals are 2-1 with Skelton as the starting QB.  He has played in 3 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has completed 47 of 94 passes (50%) for 636 yards with 4 TD passes and 5 INTs (64.0 QB Rating).  Skelton has also carried the ball 8 times for 53 yards (6.6 ypc) so far this year.  For now, Skelton will remain the starting QB…but he was awful yesterday.  28-year old Richard Bartel is now #2 in line for the Cardinals, at least until Ko...

QB Kevin Kolb inactive for Cardinals vs. 49ers

Kevin Kolb is inactive for the Arizona Cardinals for the third straight game with a right foot injury, and he's being replaced at quarterback by John Skelton against the San Francisco 49ers. A turf toe and a bruise on the side of his foot will keep Kolb sidelined again Sunday. He tested the injuries briefly in practice this week but complained of pain when he planted to throw...

Cardinals' Skelton not ready for the spotlight

Monday would be a really good day for Kevin Kolb's foot to fully heal. The St. Louis Rams are on deck and the Cardinals 2-week-old quarterback controversy is over unless you're talking about the backup spot. As predicted, the San Francisco 49ers quieted all those irrational, reactionary, semi-informed voices calling for John Skelton to steal the starting quarterback spot...

Cardinals could get Kolb back Sunday

QB Kevin Kolb's right foot injury must show considerable improvement if he's going to play Sunday in St. Louis.

Skelton's dreadful game doesn't change QB status

Quarterback John Skelton's dreadful performance against San Francisco must make Arizona fans anxious for the return of Kevin Kolb. The trouble is, no one knows when that might happen. Kolb's right foot injury is showing slow progress, at best. Coach Ken Whisenhunt says Skelton will remain the starting quarterback if Kolb is forced to miss a fourth straight game when the...

Cardinals' Kolb targeting Sunday vs. Rams for return from injury

Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb went through a substantial practice for the first time since his injury three weeks ago and says he is optimistic he will be able to play Sunday at St. Louis.

Cardinals-Rams Preview

Arizona Cardinals quarterback John Skelton led his struggling club to its first win streak this season while filling in for an injured Kevin Kolb. A miserable performance from Skelton, however, helped bring that run to an end last week. If Kolb is unavailable once again, Skelton will likely get the chance to bounce back while helping the Cardinals top the St. Louis Rams for the...

49ers RB Gore good to go; Cards QB Skelton to start for Kolb

As expected, San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore is active for Sunday's tilt against the Arizona, while the Cardinals will play a third straight week without quarterback Kevin Kolb.

So much for that quarterback controversy in Arizona

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt didn’t want to blame John Skelton compleltely for the team’s decisive loss to the 49ers on Sunday. But he did so anyway. “We didn’t play well enough offensively, especially at the quarterback position, to give us a chance against a good football team,” Whisenhunt said via the Arizona Republic. “If we…
