NFL Injury Report:
The Baltimore Ravens have returned to the proverbial
‘top of the mountain’ in the NFL as they hoisted the Vince Lombardi trophy for
the second time in franchise history after defeating the 49ers 34-31in Super
This Super Bowl was definitely one to remember with
the game beginning with what looked like a rout as the Ravens scored 21 points to
the 49ers six points in the first half. Soon after the start of the second half
the Ravens’ Jacoby Jones returned a kickoff for an NFL record tying 108 yards. Baltimore’s
fiery start was thwarted by a power surge in the Superdome which decommissioned
roughly half of the stadium’s lights shortly after the start of the third quarter.
The outage lasted approximately 34 minutes and only added an even greater amount
of suspense to the already thrilling ball game. After power was restored and
play resumed San Francisco went on a 17 point scoring run that put the team
within five points with a score of 28-23 heading into the fourth quarter. The
49ers relentless attack on both offense and defense catapulted the game to a
gut wrenching 34-31score with four seconds remaining after Ravens kicker Sam Koch
ran out of the end zone for a safety to burn the clock and the decrease the
49ers chances of scoring on another drive. The game ended with the Ravens stopping
the 49ers punt return at about midfield as time expired reported NFL.com.
An ecstatic yet humble Ray Lewis said this when asked
for his remarks on his team winning the Super Bowl, “When God is for you, who
can be against you?” This statement articulated clearly what Lewis’ and the Ravens’
journey has been throughout the 2012 season as they confronted and overcame
every obstacle that they encountered.
Ray Lewis ended his career on a high note with a
team high 51 tackles in the postseason and lifted the Lombardi trophy once
again at the culmination of his 17 year career.
Joe Flacco was named MVP of the Super Bowl after
completing 22 of 33 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns, according to
ESPN.com. He did not throw any interceptions in the postseason.
The Baltimore Ravens are the champions of the NFL
after winning Super Bowl XLVII.

Joe Flacco finished this postseason with 11 Touchdowns, 0 interceptions, a Super Bowl ring, and a Super Bowl MVP award. Sounds elite to me. So now that the season is over, attention turns to Flacco and the Ravens as they now have to attempt to get a deal done because of Flacco’s looming free [...]
Last year during the offseason, Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Joe Flacco was making wild statements about how he was an “elite” quarterback and the best in the business. He really sounded like he belonged in a nut house than on the football field.Flacco has been one of those quarterbacks that has seen more downs than ups over his career even though he manages to get the Ravens...
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that not only are the Ravens likely to franchise QB Joe Flacco in the next few weeks, but they may have to use the exclusive franchise tag to ensure that he will be back for at least another season.
If Baltimore were to apply the general franchise tag they would have to pay Flacco $14.6 million, but they would run the risk that a team could...

The Baltimore Ravens are Super Bowl champions, and Joe Flacco is the Super Bowl MVP. Most of us would not have predicted six months ago that this would happen, but that is the beauty of the NFL. While many have criticized Flacco for lacking personality and his own father even said he is a dull person, that isn’t stopping the 28-year-old from doing what Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks...
Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens withstood a furious comeback attempt from the 49ers, a 34-minute blackout and the Destiny's Child reunion to win the Super Bowl.
It ended another lifetime after it began, with the Baltimore Ravens gladly surrendering two points that meant nothing except to some lucky bettors in Vegas. One brother patted the other on the cheek and, just like that, the strangest Super Bowl you will ever see was finally over – with the 49ers lamenting what was and what could have been.
