It might be safe to say by this point that Eric Steinbach is the best free agent pickup for the Browns since 1999. This is probably true even despite Steinbach missing all of the 2011 season with a back injury and subsequent surgery. In second place, Ross Verba played guard for the Browns from 2001-04. In that time Verba started every Browns game except one in 2001. Nationally Verba is known for failing to pay a gambling debt and other troubles with the law related to bad checks. For Browns fans he’s second best, though. Joe Andruzzi was an import from the New England Patriots.  He signed a 4-year, $9 million deal with the Browns to leave the Super Bowl champs. He was at the end of his usefulness as a player physically, but you couldn’t help but like the guy.  Andruzzi played 13 games in 2005 and 14 in 2006 before retiring and successfully battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Steve Zahursky is your inaugural left guard.  He played with the Browns from 1999-2000 before ...

The decisions made in the next few months about the future of the Browns' offense will likely determine their...

The Best Browns Since 1999 – Right Tackle

Ryan Tucker has always been a fan favorite even as he struggled with drug suspensions.  Something about the big, tattooed guy was just so lovable.  He was a good player too when he was on the field.  That’s why it isn’t surprising at a position like right tackle where the Browns have struggled so hard to fill it, that fans showed love for Ryan Tucker.  Tucker scored...

NFL Free Agents: Defensive Ends

League-wide free agency begins March 13th. The Browns have stated all along they prefer to build the team through the draft, but will take a look at the players available in free agency. While We’re Waiting… Building the Cavs, Small market risks and Browns running game ‘mediocre’ at best

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. “Many of these teams drafted poorly, but the ratio of “teams that built contenders from lottery scratch” to “teams that did not” is really lopsided. The lottery...

The Outlook for the Cleveland Browns

The Browns have been one of the more underachieving franchises in the past couple of decades. The Browns have won a total of four league championships (NFL). They won all four AAFC titles (including a 15–0 undefeated season in 1948) which are not recognized by the NFL, and after joining the NFL they won four league championships prior to the league’s merger with the American...
