Super Bowl XLVIII was the most tweeted Super Bowl in history, according to Twitter, with more than 24.9 million tweets being sent during the game and halftime show. The New York Giants’ players were not an exception, with many of the team’s players participating in the festivities on Twitter while the Seahawks trounced the Broncos, 43-8. Justin Tuck declared what the Giants have learned twice over the seven seasons: Defense wins championships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #okthatsenuff!'s — Justin Tuck (@JustinTuckNYG91) February 3, 2014 Trumaine McBride echoed his sentiments hours later: Defense definitely win Championships — Trumaine McBride (@TruMcBride) February 3, 2014 As Andre Brown notes, the first half lacked entertainment. Bruno Mars helped things a little bit with his halftime performance. Well that's the most entertaining thing I've seen so far… — Andre Brown (@drebrown35) February 3, 2014 And then Percy Harvin broke the internet with his second half-opening kick return to bury the Broncos: GAME. SET. MATCH — Dave Diehl (@davediehl66) February 3, 2014 This game is OVER!!! Wow! #SB48 — Steve Weatherford (@Weatherford5) February 3, 2014 And that will do it #curtains — Justin Tuck (@JustinTuckNYG91) February 3, 2014 And like many of us, the Giants could not believe what they were seeing: Are you sure this a Super Bowl? — Jason Pierre Paul (@UDWJPP) February 3, 2014 What was the biggest margin of victory in a Super Bowl game? This is just crazy! — Henry Hynoski (@HenryHynoski) February 3, 2014 Do you turn it off now? — Justin Pugh (@JustinPugh) February 3, 2014 Game was over before it started #Unbelievable — Charles James (@ShutDownCB1) February 3, 2014 Can't lie I didn't see this coming #SuperBowl — Charles James (@ShutDownCB1) February 3, 2014 Steve Weatherford admits the sad truth while he’s on post-game interviewing duty for Fox’s local New York station: 2 yrs ago, I was runnin around Lucas Oil celebrating-NYG Super Bowl 46 Now I'm reduced to interviewing the champs pic.twitter.com/r6Z6bIpMCr — Steve Weatherford (@Weatherford5) February 3, 2014 Make sure you follow @cover32_NYG and @cover32_NFL on Twitter for all the latest breaking news, columns, blogs and features from the Giants and the entire NFL.
