If it weren’t already evident, the Cardinals are destined to be the team with the hot start that fell apart after a month of media incredulity and sweeping hype. Last year, it was the Bills who started 4-1 before crashing and burning their way to 6-10. No reason to expect that Arizona should fare any better considering the level of competition in their division and the quality of play from their offensive line and quarterbacks, or lack thereof. In the meantime, Jim Harbaugh is spitting some jive to the media after Alex Smith nearly broke an NFL record for completion percentage. He would have had the record if he had completed one more pass, as the record only recognizes performances with at least 20 pass attempts. Can’t believe that the 49ers passing attack thrives when they aren’t asked to do all that much. Asked what Smith’s performance meant for the ongoing Alex Smith confidence narrative, Harbs responded: Harbaugh: I don’t think there was ever a question there. I think it’s just a lot of gobble gobble turkey. Reporter: What is gobble, gobble turkey? Harbaugh: Just gobble, gobble, gobble turkey from jive turkey gobblers … that paints a pretty good picture. He’s a very confident guy. That’s right. Harbs will spit some jive. He’ll spit some jive like you never seen. That and continue to deny that the team sought other options at quarterback prior to the season. Whatevs. That’s Harbs. RIP Rod Tidwell. — Ten Foot Midget (@Ten_Foot_Midget) October 30, 2012 Yeah, I’m a horrible person. Not my fault God wasted His opportunity to take me and my bloggin’ computer out with the hurricane. And if ESPN shows devastating hits with multiple replays, why should I feel bad about it? It Darth Buzzsaw. It being Arizona, it will be more fitting than the movies when he takes off his mask to reveal a half decomposed old white guy. I guess that makes this sad little tyke the Episode I Anakin in this analogy. “Are we going to punt again? Wizard!” Alex Smith’s one incompletion was the result of a drop. But then he did get extremely fortunate that this tipped pass fell into the hands of a receiver on the sideline. Eh, I can’t even work up the contempt to try to denigrate a good Alex Smith performance. You’re not a truly elite back until you’ve humiliated William Gay by stomping a mudhole into the cornerback and walking it dry. The way he got abused by Frank Gore last night evoked memories of the time Adrian Peterson walked all over Gay a few years back. Larry Fitzgerald pulling a Kevin Dyson, if Kevin Dyson were trying to score a garbage time touchdown in Week 8 game down three scores and not trying to tie the Super Bowl. Same diff, right? Either way, Fitty deserves better than this team. Someone in the live blog made a joke that this guy looked like he went down on Katy Perry. I don’t remember who it was. I was drunk. Forgive the snubbage. None of it good. For a fan base that barely gives a ****, Cardinals fans are frightening. Not even the mask. What the **** is that on that guy’s back. A quiver of arrows? Someone’s leg he carries around as a spare? Jon Gruden still loves KISS and spent a night in Gene Simmons’ box. File under: things that only further confirm what I suspected Jon Gruden is like. Tirico is ribbing Gruden about the Chucky stuff, but it would be great if Gruden got royalties for Chucky merch and used it to tour the country as a KISS groupie. RGIII and Kirk Cousins are way too cool for school, you guys. If you want RGIII to crack a joke, better come ready with Subway endorsement money. Good Brett Favre dig by Cousins, though. Pardon me. I just enjoy Eagles fans’ pain. Lobster Mobster The worst thing about Alex Smith’s sprained finger is that nobody makes a splint small enough for his baby hands. Brian Manningham is the result of Archie nailing a pig The Lord Formerly Known as Revisisle The SF DB just did the Dying Gaul War Machine The Cardinals Concussion Test: Coach: “Hey, Larry, is Skelton any good?”
 Larry: “Yes! No! AAAAARGH!” *vomits*
Coach: “He’s fine, put him back in.” Old School Zero So much foreheadroom in those Buicks! Keating Sean the hedonistic opulence of all the passing plays by the 49′s has Harbuagh been replaced by a Dubai Prince sarah Darren Rovell is worried Clay’s man cave flooding in the hurricane. Feklhr I fixed that picture. Troll-So-Hard-University In the future, when alien/robot anthropologists study our culture, they will see that we used our only remaining source of electricity (cell phones) to update Facebook to let everyone know that the electricity is out. At that point, their questions about our extinction will be answered. Jim Harbaugh on Alex Smith doubters: It’s just a lot of gobble, gobble, turkey

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is already in the mood for Thanksgiving. He had turkey on the brain following a dominating 24-3 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, but it had more to do with his quarterback carving up a defense than someone carving a bird. Alex Smith looked as sharp as he has all season, torching the Cardinals for 232 yards and three touchdowns...

After his quarterback Alex Smith put up an astounding performance on Monday Night Football, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh had a word for anyone who had an issue with his starting quarterback. Check out the video from the fine folks over at Awful Announcing during a Monday press conference when asked about the critics of the his quarterback. Here is the exact quote of Harbaugh...

NFL Rumors: NFL Denies 49ers QB Alex Smith Record After San Francisco Challenges Michael Crabtree Lateral

It was a near record setting performance by Alex Smith on Monday Night Football, following a 24-3 victory for his San Francisco 49ers against the Arizona Cardinals. I say near record setting, because the NFL has upheld the initial ruling made by the referees, even after the call was challenged by the 49ers. On Monday night, Smith completed an impressive 18 of 19 passes for 232 yards...

Jim Harbaugh Thinks Alex Smith Has Quieted 'Jive-Turkey Gobblers' Who Questioned Quarterback's Confidence

It's not even November, but San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh already has turkey on his mind. The outspoken leader of the NFC West leaders had some interesting things to say about the psyche of his quarterback, Alex Smith, following his team's 24-3 win over division rival Arizona on Monday night in the desert. Harbaugh was asked whether he thought...

49ers Throttle Cardinals, 24-3: Five Things We Learned

The San Francisco 49ers handled their business and the opposing team once again Monday night imposing their will upon the Arizona Cardinals for a 24-3 victory. The 49ers have not allowed a touchdown in four of their last five games. The NFC West leaders used their winning formula of power running, bruising defense and phenomenal special teams play to destroy the Cardinals in every...

Smith almost perfect, 49ers flatten Arizona 24-3

So much for Alex Smith and his lost confidence. ''It was in my closet,'' he said. ''I found it.'' Indeed. Smith was almost perfect in San Francisco's 24-3 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night. But for a dropped pass, he would have been. The 49ers quarterback completed 18 of 19 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns after a...

Jim Harbaugh gives the weirdest press conference answer in the history of press conferences

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football last night largely thanks to the excellent performance of QB Alex Smith.  The often maligned quarterback was 18/19 for 232 yards and 3 TDs.  After the game, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about Smith's confidence and putting questions about his performances to rest.  Harbaugh offered this wisdom...

49ers crush Cards, set sights on bigger prize

GLENDALE, Ariz. There was a cute little storyline making the NFL rounds the past few weeks. The much picked-upon, oft-mocked NFC West had grown a hard-hitting, defensive identity, with four teams ranked among the leagues top nine in total defense heading into the eighth week of the season. Leave it to 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh to toss a wet blanket on that hype. I dont know if...

San Francisco 49ers crush the Arizona Cardinals in week 8 divisional match up

Monday night’s NFC west divisional showdown saw the San Francisco 49ers go into the University of Phoenix Stadium and completely dismantle the Arizona Cardinals 24-3. The 49ers, on their part, controlled the entire aspect of the game on both offense and defense. They looked as crisp and precise as they have all year, and they dictated the action on nearly every down. The Cardinals...

Domination in Arizona. 49ers win 24-3

The 49ers went into Arizona in prime time and dominated their division rival 24-3. The 49ers all around embarrassed the Cardinals. The 49ers head into their bye week at 6-2 up two games in the West and now at 2-0 in the division. Outside of taking some sacks he should not have, Alex Smith had a solid outing. It should be noted that when he finally got the bandage/tape off his middle...

49ers widen NFC West lead with rout of reeling Cardinals

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The San Francisco 49ers added to Arizona's growing misery Monday night with a 24-3 victory at University of Phoenix Stadium, handing the Cardinals their fourth consecutive loss after a 4-0 start.
