In week three, the Buffalo Bills were a different team. They were gunning for first place and looking to take the monkey off their back after losing to the Patriots for years without a win. The Patriots jumped to a 21-0 lead and it looked like another day at the office for the Patriots.

Then suddenly the Bills came to life on offense and defense, turning the game into a shootout. Forcing Tom Brady and the Patriots offense into four turnovers and shredding the defense by spreading them out in five wide sets, they attacked the man to man defense the Patriots played.

The Bills came back to win 34-31 and it seemed it was a changing of the guard in the AFC East. Buffalo fans celebrated as Patriots fans thought the sky was falling.

The Bills went 3-9 after that game, while the Patriots went 10-2.

It looked like facing each other in the final game of the year would be for the AFC East. However, that's clearly not the case as the Patriots have clinched the AFC for the 9th time in 11 years and Buffalo is going back to a familiar place - the cellar.

Do the Patriots have any extra motivation to beat the Bills? The Bill aren’t the New York Jets, they don’t trash talk. Furthermore, even Patriots fans said, 'well it was about time for them to win'. As the saying goes “The shoe has to drop sometime” and Bills fans were too happy to expect actually being in contention in January.

So we ask again, do the Patriots have extra motivation t beat the Bills?

The Patriots still have an important hurdle to jump as they still have to secure the top seed in the AFC to ensure home field advantage for the playoffs. So it isn’t as personal as we thought it would be. It’s back to the norm for Patriots fans, another game with the Bills that means nothing personal, just like week three turned out to be.
