Yesterday, the Jets signed free agent safety, Dawan Landry, ex-Jet safety LaRon Landry's brother. Flipping one brother for another, the Jets have started to fill a major hole in the depleted secondary, torn apart by free agency and contract cuts in the offseason. Can Dawan have the same impact his brother did? Let's take a look at the career numbers.  D. Landry is entering his 8th NFL season in 2013. Two of those seasons were spent under a Rex Ryan defense in Baltimore (06-08).  In his 7 years in the NFL, he has 12 interceptions, 3 of which were returned for touchdowns, as well as 5.5 sacks. For a safety, those are pretty average numbers. LaRon Landry has 6 picks, 1 returned for a touchdown and also 5.5 sacks.  The brothers Landry have pretty similar numbers, except that LaRon is only entering his 6th year in the league, and has a Pro Bowl under his belt. Not to mention L. Landry is much more physical then his older brother. They're both run-stop first safeties before coverage safeties (hence the 5.5 sacks each), and both excelled in a Rex Ryan defense. LaRon so much that he earned himself a Pro Bowl nod in 2012.  So will we see the same guy out there in the secondary that we did last year? I'm afraid not. According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Dawan Landry isn't as dynamic or intimidating as his younger brother LaRon, but still fills a major need for the Jets. Losing LaRon to the Colts (4 years, $24 million) was a big hit for NY. Still, signing his veteran brother, who not only knows the system, but knows the coach very well was an exceptional move by the front office. He won't have as big of an impact as his brother did, but his presence will still be enough to make opposing offenses think twice before throwing his way.
