Dejan Kovacevic wrote in his column today that the Steelers should play Ben Roethlisberger these final two weeks of the season. Now, Kovacevic is no joke. He knows what he's talking about in every sport and I agree with him close to 100% of the time. This is one of the times I don't.He's right about a few things, of course. There is a case to start Ben despite his high ankle sprain. The Steelers aren't exactly such a dominant force in pro football right now that they can expect to take two weeks off and jump in without incident in wildcard weekend. And of course, Ben wouldn't be in as much danger if the Steelers were to incorporate a QB-friendly, quick-pass offense. It isn't like the Rams defense is that threatening. And they can still lean on the running game, right? Here's the problem. The Steelers have all but clinched the #5 seed. Even if they win out, it remains likely that the Ravens will do the same and finish with the top seed in the AFC. Yeah, they...

For Browns Fans XMas Came Early As Ben Roethlisberger Takes Beating

Last night Ben Roethlisberger threw three interceptions as his Pittsburgh Steelers team missed the chance to take over the top spot in the AFC as the Steelers lost to the 49ners 20-3. Big Ben was still hampered by the sprained ankle the Browns gave him when they played on Thursday night. The Lights went out at candlestick a couple of times and so did the Steelers chances of producing...

Steelers QB Batch, not Roethlisberger, to face Rams

The Pittsburgh Steelers will start Charlie Batch at quarterback for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Rams. Ben Roethlisberger was expected to be given at least one week of rest as he recovers from an ankle injury. The 29-year-old Roethlisberger has thrown for 3,856 yards with 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games. Batch, 37, has thrown two incompletions this...

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger could sit vs. St. Louis Rams

After a very poor performance against the San Francisco 49ers Monday night, it’s becoming more and more of a reality that Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger could sit this Saturday against the St. Louis Rams. NFL Network contributor Jason La Canfora on Twitter this morning confirms this. Jason LaCanfora reports, “Steelers officials would be shocked if Ben plays...

Ben Roethlisberger SHOULD Sit At Least Week 16 If Not Both

In Charlie Batch we must trust. Courtesy steelers.com Ben, Ben, Ben.  This might be the most attention you’ve received during the actual course of the football season and not just the offseason.  For those keeping up on Ben and his ankle and have been thinking about it, you may have already read Kimmy’s post about her thoughts on the matter.  She’s on the fence...

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger active vs. 49ers

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is active against the San Francisco 49ers despite being limited in practice this week with a sprained left ankle.

Power Outage Delays "Monday Night Football"

As Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was announced as being active against the San Francisco 49ers, the stadium had different ideas. The start of Monday Night Football at Candlestick Park in San Francisco was delayed Monday when a transformer exploded just outside the stadium. The start of the game was delayed indefinitely and ESPN showed aerial footage of fans...

Steelers QB Roethlisberger stands by coach

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger basically remained in no-excuse mode, as his teammates prepared for the St. Louis Rams.

Roethlisberger hoping to play against Rams

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is optimistic he'll play Saturday when the Steelers host St. Louis.

Steelers let chance to control AFC slip away

The lights weren't the only thing that went out in San Francisco. The Pittsburgh Steelers saw their opportunity to take control of the AFC disappear in a 20-3 loss to the 49ers. Injured quarterback Ben Roethlisberger passed for 330 yards but also threw three interceptions, and the Steelers were held without a touchdown for the first time in over two years. Instead of moving...

Roethlisberger sits out practice to rest ankle

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has sat out Thursday's practice to rest his sprained left ankle and will be a game-time decision when the Steelers face St. Louis on Saturday.

Mike Tomlin never considered benching Ben Roethlisberger

The most bizarre thing about Monday night's Steelers vs. 49ers game (okay, the second-most bizarre thing) was that gimped-up quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played all sixty minutes. On an injured ankle, when the Steelers' line couldn't protect him, and with the game decided, there was Large Benjamin, still under center, still getting pounded. Even more strange? Head coach...

Thursday Night Injury Report: Rams at Steelers

The Steelers Injury list is relatively short this week.  They are heading into week 16 pretty healthy.  Minus Ben Roethlisberger’s status up in the air this team is pretty well set for who is in and out.  LaMarr Woodley returned to practice.  I will have to tell April to calm down.  Woodley could not practice a day after a game.  Rest the hamstring.  Rest.  Here is...

If Charlie Batch Can’t Win, Why Does He Exist?

I’m going to wade into Steelers territory for just a moment. I think the title says it all but let me elaborate.  The Steelers started an obviously hurt Ben Roethlisberger against the 49ers in a must win situation. Did Ben look good to anyone? Now we must assume Ben started because he gave the Steelers [...]
