What else must Lovie Smith do to win over the Bear’s fans and front office? Don’t become a prisoner of the moment and scoff at the title of this article simply due to the fact the Bears lost to the Texans this past weekend. Lovie Smith has proven to be one of the best coaches in Bear’s franchise history, and he deserves to be rewarded with a long term contract before his current one expires at the end of the 2013 season. It seems that every 2 years or so, Lovie Smith’s contract becomes a hot topic. Chicago fans can never really assume a united stance on Coach Smith, and apparently neither can the front office. Even after the Super Bowl campaign of 2006, Lovie had to fight for a better contract just so he would no longer be the lowest paid coach in the NFL. Let’s give this guy a break already. The Bears are 7-2 this season because they’ve been able to rely on a method that’s been proven to work here in Chicago since before Lovie even arrived: defense, defense, and more defense. It’s...

Bears Injury Report: Jay Cutler ‘Doubtful’ vs. 49ers

While the Chicago Bears haven’t come out with their injury report for the week yet, ESPN’s John Clayton said on air last night that it appears “doubtful” quarterback Jay Cutler will play Monday night when the team takes on the San Francisco 49ers. Coach: Bears handled Cutler concussion properly

Coach Lovie Smith says the Chicago Bears properly handled quarterback Jay Cutler's concussion on Sunday night. With Chicago Bears' QB Jay Cutler likely doubtful for Monday night's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers the Bears made sure they had an insurance policy. Next statement must come from NFL

This was system failure, maybe system overload for the NFL. You get a big game like Sunday night, Houston at Chicago, and hope to see statements made, questions answered. We got statements, all right. When Houston linebacker Tim Dobbins cheap-shotted Jay Cutler -- in the officials' opinion -- by going helmet-to-helmet after Cutler had thrown a pass, Dobbins was allowed to stay...

Bears QB Jason Campbell's Struggles in Relief of Cutler Against Texans, Predictable

After Bears quarterback Jay Cutler went down with a concussion, in stepped high-priced veteran backup Jason Campbell to relax the fears of Bears fans.  Campbell's signing in the off-season was seen as a major upgrade over Caleb Hanie but instead Campbell struggled nearly as much as Hanie did in relief of Cutler.  Jason Campbell's struggles were all together far...
