Found October 14, 2013 on This Given Sunday:
Starting a season 6-0 in the NFL is an impressive feat that usually results in media hype leading into every game. “Will Team X stay unbeaten as they travel to City Y to play Team Y?” With just two perfect teams left in the NFL, one would believe both those teams would garner a large segment on ESPN leading up to each game. If that’s what you’d believe would happen, you’d be wrong. While the 6-0 Denver Broncos will continue to bask in the spotlight that revolves around Peyton Manning’s incredible season to date, the Kansas City Chiefs will continue to go out every week and play sound football. The Chiefs and the Broncos play in the same division, meaning they’ll get two shots at each other. Those game may be the best games of the year too. Beyond sharing a division, however, the two have little in common. The Broncos have achieved a 6-0 mark by piling on inordinate amounts of points on opponents. Although Denver has been hampered by suspect defensive play through much of the y...

Chiefs fans focus on wrong record

So this is what the NFL has come to…76,394 people screaming like they never have all so they can set a new record for the loudest crowd roar in an outdoor stadium. Isn’t this just a little pathetic? The Kansas City Chiefs fans cheered so loud it was the “loudest recorded crowd at a sporting event.”  - Way to go, you have something to tell your grandchildren. The more...

Chiefs defense developing killer instinct: 'Everybody’s trying to eat around here, everybody’s hungry and everybody’s thirsty'

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson was surprised at the amount of sacks the unit had Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. The defense sacked QB Terrelle Pryor 10 times and pressured him endlessly. What is becoming the trademark calling card, the swarming front seven caused havoc in making the statement they are here to stay.

LB Tamba Hali wants to snap six game losing streak to Oakland at Arrowhead: 'We’re a different team'

The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the surprise stories in 2013, but they face another hurdle Sunday against the Raiders. Oakland has won the last six meetings at Arrowhead stadium and the Chiefs want to add that to list list of bad things that they can turn around. Linebacker Tamba Hali isn't concerned about what happened in the past, instead he's focused on what lies ahead.

Battered Jamaal Charles can’t continue to carry offensive load for Chiefs

Blood trickles down his left shin as Jamaal Charles explains to a reporter why he’s wearing only a towel. “Got these cuts” he says rubbing his arm and shoulder. “Can’t put clothes on just yet.” Charles is headed to the trainer’s room soon. Bandages will keep him clean and protect his clothes. He just got out of the cold tub. Hopefully the swelling will stay down this...

Kansas City Chiefs Fall Way Short of Setting New Crowd Noise Record

The Kansas City Chiefs and their fans are experiencing something that they are not accustomed to--success. After a gritty 24-7 win over the Oakland Raiders the team is one of the last undefeated teams in the NFL. So yeah, I'd say the fans in Arrowhead have plenty to cheer about. Some of them thought so too. In fact, they thought the team would give them so much to cheer...

Flanny: 'Andyball' looks a lot like Martyball

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --Five things we learned from the Chiefs' 24-7 whipping of the Raiders.10 sacks are "stupid"If these 2013 Chiefs aren't starting to remind you of the fun Marty Schottenheimer teams from the 1990s, you're not paying attention. Indeed, this "Andyball" is an awful lot like Martyball -- a great defense that creates sacks and turnovers...

Is the Chiefs Defense Good Enough?

It's time to adjust our expectations for this season.I've been holding back a little. I've been hurt before. Every time I've allowed myself to believe we could be more than a playoff team (OK, that hasn't really happened in a decade, but still), I found my hopes smashed into a thousand pieces by the Bills, The Kicker Who Shall Not Be Named, or Peyton Manning ...
