The Pittsburgh Steelers did not place the franchise tag on WR Mike Wallace yesterday at the league imposed deadline, instead using a first-round tender. With two first-round draft picks in next month’s draft, the Cleveland Browns should consider using the number 22 pick and acquire WR Mike Wallace. At this time of the year, lying by front offices of NFL franchises is rampant as teams position themselves for the upcoming draft. However, several reports suggest that the Cleveland Browns might not package thier plethora of draft picks in order to move up and draft Baylor QB Robert Griffin III. If this is indeed true, then the Browns should use their second first-round pick, number 22 overall, and acquire Pittsburgh Steelers WR Mike Wallace. The move is a two-fold no brainer for the Browns. First, it takes Wallace away from a divisional opponent and second, it fills a great need for the Browns. Pittsburgh has been busy, purging their roster this offseason as they are trying...

No Franchise Tag for Mike Wallace

It became official at 4 pm today.  Mike Wallace will receive a first round tender but will not be franchised.  The Steelers did not have the money for it.  This is what has been expected all a long.  The Steelers will give Wallace $2.7 million this season.  He will be an unrestricted free agent next season if no long term deal is reached. The Steelers are now vulnerable to another...

2012 Steelers Mock Draft Version 2.0 – Post NFL Combine

The 2012 NFL combine is now in the books and I have gone back to do some additional tape study and reading in preparation for this, my second Pittsburgh Steelers mock draft of the offseason. Mock draft 1.0, which was done right after the Senior Bowl, can be read by following the link. I usually end up doing about 5 or 6 mocks leading up to the draft, so there are quite a few more...

The case for keeping the Big Snack in Pittsburgh

With so many restructures already in the books for the Steelers, along with all the recent cuts, there’s a solid case for keeping NT Casey Hampton on the team in 2012.  “He’s recovering from ACL surgery” you say? Yes indeed he is, but even given that situation, Hampton could still contribute to the team in 2012. One of Hampton’s best friends and long time teammate Chris...

Pittsburgh TV station reported Hines Ward was signed by the Ravens

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, during the 6am morning news on Wednesday, WPXI-TV morning anchor Todd McDermott reported that Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward had signed with the Baltimore Ravens. “We’re a little in shock,” Mr. McDermott said to co-anchor Jennifer Abney per the Post-Gazette. What’s really funny is that Ward hasn’t even been officially released...

Maybe the Browns do not want RG3 afterall

Redskins fans are losing sleep over what Mike Holmgren might do (to them) in the 2012 NFL Draft April 26. Holmgren is the man most likely to ruin our day, depending on what he decides about Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. Hog Heaven warned you that the Cleveland Browns have more valued Draft picks and more of them to throw into a deal to move up to the St. Louis Rams'...

Reasons why the Browns won’t draft RG3

Robert Griffin III could be under center for the Cleveland Browns, if accounts are believed heading toward the college player draft. Don Delco loves RG3, but now he's only playing devil's advocate.

Report: Fujita contributed to extra payouts while a member of the Saints

According to a story by Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Browns linebacker Scott Fujita contributed money for extra incentive while a member of the New Orleans Saints. Here is the relevant piece on Fujita- “On Sunday, Fujita said, “Over the years I’ve paid out a lot of money for big plays like interceptions, sacks and special teams tackles inside the 20. But I’ve never...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Mewelde Moore Is All About His Team and Kids

In the football world, wearing the black and gold can be compared to garnering a badge of honor.  An honor free agent running back Mewelde Moore proudly holds in high regard as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Other than having the privilege to play for the Steelers and having a successful career in the NFL, Moore appreciates another opportunity, which is far more important...

Report: Tony Grossi leaving the Plain Dealer

Tony Grossi announced via his twitter feed that he will be leaving the Plain Dealer- “After more than 30 years, I am leaving the Plain Dealer. And thanks to Peyton Manning for stealing my thunder.” Grossi was of course removed from the Cleveland Browns beat earlier this year for a tweet about Browns owner Randy Lerner in which Grossi called Lerner “a pathetic figure, the most...
