The Cleveland Browns and their top draft pick, the man who said the team would have the best defense in the NFL this season still haven’t been able to come to terms in a contract deal.  With camp set to start, Barkevious Mingo remains UN-signed. You would think with all the lawyers working for the team they could have a deal done with Mingo by now. The NFL’s new CBA was suppose to make signing rookies easier for the team’s. They have caps in place to deal with signing top rookie draft picks. It make you wonder what the problems are. In the case of Mingo and the Browns not being able to come to terms. It’s the Offset language that is keeping a deal from happening. What is Offset language? Apparently it is language in the contract that stops a deal from becoming fully guaranteed. The offset language makes it so the Browns wouldn’t have to pay the player the full contract if they were to release him before the 4 year contract expires. The players such as Mingo don’t like this language,...

When is a ringing endorsement not so ringing? Anytime the Cleveland Browns front office praises quarterback Brandon Weeden. We are about to enter our 15th season of the “new Browns” era. 15 years. Wow. To paraphrase the great Thornton Melon in “Back To School”- 15 years, seems like yesterday. And you know what a lousy day yesterday was. I’ve noticed we haven’t seen a lot of “15th anniversary” stories floating around. It is not hard to decipher why. To put it bluntly, the Browns haven...
