Refholding
Two weeks ago, I began the fifth and final part to the Clutch Enigma study, a look at Peyton Manning's playoff statistics.  As many Colts' fans have been screaming for years, Manning has been one of the best overall playoff quarterbacks in the league over the past few years, with the 2009 run being especially impressive. Only Drew Brees has had better overall playoff statistical performances, and only Brees and Little Brother have better margins between their playoff performances and their regular season statistics.  Of course, we also explored some reasons why Manning's excellent playoff statistics haven't led to more wins (Manning has the worst playoff win percentage of the five QBs). First, Manning has by far faced the better pass defenses in the playoffs, both in scoring defenses and passer rating. 2012 NFL draft: Possible selections for the Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have been the topic of conversation for a good part of the NFL off-season with the acquisition of Peyton Manning. The excitement is in the thin air and the Broncos could be the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl. After all, it only made sense for John Elway to replace Tim Tebow with

Manning to Broncos, Not A Big Deal

The common perception abound is that Peyton Manning’s departure from the Colts and subsequent arrival to the Broncos makes the 2012 offseason unique. While the NFL’s first four-time MVP and Super Bowl XLI MVP leaving the only team he has ever played for professionally has been a surprising chain of events, it is hardly the first time that a quarterback who has been named to Pro...

Peyton Manning v Tom Brady: Analyzing The “Replacement Factor”

[Surgeon General’s Warning: Statistics!!!] The age old debate: Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, who is the better QB? We’ve argued it time and time again. Back in March of last year I recall a friendly discussion I had with a co-worker who happened to be a fan of the Patriots and Tom Brady. I argued, “Well, fine, forget the statistics and Super Bowls. Manning is better than Brady...

Fran Tarkenton blames Gregg Williams for Peyton Manning’s neck injury, says ‘gangster rap’ contributes to NFL violence

If we sat here and wrote about every person who has blasted Gregg Williams and the Saints for running a bounty program, we would never write about anything else. However, some reactions are just more noteworthy than others. Take former Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton for example, who blamed Williams for Peyton Manning’s initial neck injury during a recent interview. He also...

2012 NFL Draft: Key Pieces for Denver Broncos Lie in the West

John Elway should be able to add some key pieces on both sides of the ball to the Denver Broncos roster later this month without ever venturing east of the Mississippi for any of the team’s seven picks. With so much riding on Peyton Manning to carry the franchise back to the pinnacle of the [...]

Broncos, Jets don't want to be part of HBO's 'Hard Knocks'

Last year, HBO's popular "Hard Knocks" show was one of many casualties of the NFL lockout. The show wasn't killed forever by the lack of an offseason in 2011, and HBO is looking for a team to follow. According to Adam Schein of Fox Sports, the Denver Broncos was the first choice by HBO. When contacted about possibly being part of the show, Schein says HBO was...

If you were hoping to follow the Denver Broncos‘ 2012 training camp practices on the HBO show Hard Knocks this summer, we’ve got disappointing news.  HBO approached the Broncos about being on the show and the team turned them down. The New York Jets‘ Rex Ryan surprisingly doesn’t want the Jets to be on the show again, while the team’s Owner, Woody Johnson does, according...
