Found November 02, 2012 on Grits Blitz:
The Friday Blitz this week will be short and to the point. I have some concerns and some thoughts on the upcoming game. First, here are some of my concerns heading into the Dallas game. Sean Weatherspoon is expected to be inactive Sunday Night with an ankle injury. Do I think it is serious? No, but he is without a doubt our leader on defense. Lose your leader = bad things can happen. Another concern is that of the desperate Tony Romo. Although, Mike Vick is the more notable quarterback on the hot seat, Tony Romo is coming off a 4 int performance. Yes, he led his team back, and gave them a shot, but he got them in that mess to begin with. I have said it before; I do not like playing teams with nothing to lose. Dallas is playing for their playoff viability, Atlanta isn’t. They have looked good at times this year, but at 3-4 they are not winning the close games. The bad news for Dallas, Atlanta and Matty Ice are playing this game at home. Sunday night is a chance to make a na...

Cowboys VP: Romo is not the problem

IRVING, Texas Every interception thrown by Tony Romo isn't necessarily his fault. That was a point Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones was trying to make during Thursday's practice at Valley Ranch. Romo has thrown a league-high 13 interceptions this season with nine of them coming in his last two games at Cowboys Stadium. "There's a lot of things that...

Benching Romo 'not practical' says Jerry Jones

Tony Romo has thrown more interceptions than any other NFL quarterback through the first eight weeks of the season. Some probably believe the Cowboys starting quarterback should be benched. But it's not that simple. All of Romo's turnovers aren't solely his fault and there is no guarantee that Cowboys backup quarterback Kyle Orton would have better results with the same...

The Atlanta Falcons, the only undefeated team in the NFL, will be without linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on Sunday.  The Falcons will be taking on the Dallas Cowboys in Atlanta.  Weatherspoon will sit with an ankle injury, but he is not the only Falcons player who will sit out.  Kevin Cone will not play Sunday either.  He is dealing with a strained groin. Falcons' Weatherspoon to miss game against Dallas

Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, one of the leaders of the Atlanta Falcons' defense, will miss Sunday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys with a right ankle injury. Weatherspoon, second on the team in tackles and sacks, injured the ankle in Sunday's 30-17 win at Philadelphia. Coach Mike Smith says after Thursday's practice Weatherspoon and receiver Kevin Cone,...

Falcons rule out Weatherspoon vs. Cowboys

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Falcons will face Dallas on Sunday without leading tackler Sean Weatherspoon, as head coach Mike Smith ruled him out on Thursday with an ankle injury. Weatherspoon, the weakside linebacker, had played every snap on defense for the Falcons this season until suffering the injury with 9:08 remaining in Sundays 30-17 win at Philadelphia. He was removed from...

Cowboys look to spoil Falcons' 7-0 record

IRVING, Texas -- The error-prone Cowboys haven't been good enough to bob over .500 and are 0-7 in their last seven Sunday night games. This week's Sunday night foe, Atlanta, has been so crisp through seven games that the Falcons have yet to lose. And yet Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is willing to "guarantee" a win for Dallas as long as you hear the "if"...

The San Francisco Zoo Named A Baby Monkey After Sergio Romo

In recent years, lucky animals have played a huge part in Major League Baseball teams’ World Series runs, from the Anaheim Angels of Anaheim Los Angeles Angels’ Rally Monkey to the St. Louis Cardinals’ classier and more intelligent Rally Squirrel. This year, the World Champion San Francisco Giants had a much less heralded but equally important furry good luck charm in a rare...

Dallas Cowboys: Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#17)

Last week: 16 (-1) Record: 3-4 The good news for the Cowboys is that they rank 8th in yards per play differential and 7th in rate of sustaining drives differential. The biggest issue, by far, has been turnover differential so far for them, as they have a turnover differential of -11, 2nd worst in the NFL. The good news is that turnover differentials are incredibly inconsistent, as...

The Dallas Cowboys will travel to the Georgia Dome and look to achieve a .500 record and hand a red-hot Atlanta Falcons team their first loss of the season. Last week against the reigning Super Bowl champion New York Giants, quarterback Tony Romo threw four interceptions but a 437-yard and two touchdown game (including one rushing) salvaged his day.Romo will be facing the 10th ranked...

Reflections at 4-4

Louis Bacigalupi posts comments on the site as LouieLouie.  He’s an accountant by trade and worked in a USFL front office.  He can be reached by email at Louie@fiercelyI.com. Before the regular season began, I hoped the Seahawks could be 4-4 halfway through the season.  They could have very well been 3-5, or 2-6 -- They played five games on the road; their three home games...
