The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

St. Louis 23 @ Detroit 27

The Good

Steal!

Janoris Jenkins. Janoris Jenkins showed why he was one of the highest rated defensive backs coming out of college in the last few seasons. Often lining up against the otherworldly Calvin Johnson, Jenkins’ coverage ability was on full display.  He and his fellow defensive backs kept Megatron out of the end zone and held him to a pedestrian 111 yards on 6 receptions. The loss is the most important take away from this game, in spite of Jenkins. St. Louis can continue to extend their young defensive stars (you will need to add Janoris to this list, PDQ), but the team, as a whole needs a serious overhaul. If Jenkins is able to keep his nose clean in the Midwest, he could quickly challenge Asomugha as the best CB in the NFC, quickly. Like next week, quickly.

The Bad

Please Don’t Hit Me!! again…

Sam Bradford. Poor Sam Bradford. All the expectation, none of the production. Bradford is David Carr 2.0. The frightening injury to Rams OT Roger Saffold aside, Sam Bradford needs too many pieces too quickly to do anything this season. Jeff Fisher and Company need to hit on every pick that they bamboozled from Washington for RG3 in order to save Bradford’s career. He has all the tools, but the toolbox might be damaged beyond repair. Who would have thought Bradford would be more JaMarcus Russell than Alex Smith and Matthew Stafford (or Cam Newton or Andrew Luck)?? How much longer does Bradford get a pass?

The Ugly

“…It’s a little piece of paper with some notes on it. Have any of you seen it?!”

Matthew Stafford. Speaking of #1 overall picks…come on Matt. These are the Rams. The Rams. Did you forget the recipe for success you put together in Detroit last season? Preheat the oven to 350F. Hike the ball. Wait 5 seconds. Throw the ball, far. Megatron, jump, catch, land (hold on), score. Repeat for 60 minutes. 3 INTs?! And a Pick 6?! Against the Rams?! Perhaps the NFC North is more wide open than we thought. But you can’t have games like this in the Black & Blue division. Let’s get this out of your system. My fantasy team is depending on you.
