The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Baltimore 23 @ Philadelphia 24

The Good

Hey, I’m pretty good at his Football thing.

Michael Vick. Sorry @Marina_mclovin. Michael Vick is the reason the Philadelphia Eagles are sitting atop the NFC East. He is also the reason the a precariously perched on the ledge, looking out of the Grand Canyon-sized pit of utter collapse that will befall them, if he doesn’t clean up his (football) act. Vick is the leader of the best offense in football: Game-breaking ability at EVERY skill position (including you, Brent Celek), the most talented trio of DBs in the NFL and a serious defense. Mike, you don’t need to carry this team. You need to lead this team. Direct. Develop. Perform. Your trying too hard is overshadowing your virtuosity.  Your team is dynamic enough to beat San Francisco and the rest of the NFL, without needing the Michael Vick of old. Thank Goodness.

The Bad

This seems like a good idea

Philadelphia Turnovers. See Vick, Michael (The Good). The dichotomy that is Michael Aloysius Vick: They have the best offense in the league.  The #4 defense. They are 2-0. The have outscored their opponents by 2. Yes, 2. Points. In 2 weeks. 1 point over the Browns (*****, Please) and 1 point over the Ravens (Thank you).  And are -3 in turnover differential. If Michael Vick would stop winging it sidearm to the other team, perhaps we could stop hearing about how the 49ers are going to run away with the NFC. This season could be it for Andy Reid. And by “It” I mean, Vick stops trying to give the game away and Reid actually wins a Super Bowl, and finally loses his title of the mustached bridesmaid, or “It” meaning Vick’s inconsistencies catch up with him and this dream team plunges into a nightmare of disorder, discontent and disgust. Not to mention other words that start with “dis-“

The Ugly

So, which one of you started Flacco?..

Replacement Referees. Yet again, the Facebook-picture-posting, fantasy-team-requesting, fake zebras cost the Ravens a win, and, more importantly, an opportunity to stake their claim to the title of best team in the AFC.  No, the Eagles weren’t given an extra timeout, or spotted a few extra points, but if a defender is making contact with a wide receiver prior to the arrival of the ball, making no attempt to play the ball, that is pass interference. Ed Houchuli wouldn’t have missed that call. In fact, he would have made that call, done some one-handed pushups, Jack Palance-style, drank a protein shake and delivered a Shakespearean sonnet, while passing out tickets to the gun show, before the replacement refs finished their confused discussion at the goalline. Whoever is in charge of this negotiation, just pay them. They want what we all want, money. And good football.
