Week 1 is in the books in the fantasy football world and teams are already scrambling. Some are throwing their waiver hopes to Cowboys wideout Kevin Ogletree…

…others ,like this author, are concerned about players like Wes Welker and wondering if Josh McDaniels will create an actual running game in New England. I actually was killed by this week 1 game plan by the Pats. I was playing Boggz Dawgz, managed by friend of the site Aaron Boggs, and he started Ridley while I confidentially started Welker. Turns out the Welker scored 1.4 and Ridley put up a huge 21.20 while I lost by 10! Owners in this predicament will have to stick with Welker for at least 2 more weeks but if this turns into a trend then Welker may turn out a huge bust as he had an ADP of 33 in 12 team leagues according to FantasyFootballCalculator.com.

Let’s talk to a couple of the owners from The League to see what options lay in front of them for Week 2. I am sure there are several of you out there that will have the same issues.

Owner: Brad Smith
Team Name: Prestige Worldwide
Record: 1-0
Brad’s Issue: Running back, never have been a fan of Shonn Greene and I am not very high on my waiver wire pick, Alfred Morris. Both wound up with decent fantasy numbers, but both had almost 30 carries and didn’t top 100 yards. Greene also fumbled twice but was lucky to have not lost either one. I had hopes of MJD holding out and plugging in Rashad Jennings, but that lasted about a quarter. I might have to play Morris, along side Jamal Charles, this week as the matchup doesnt look that good for Greene. Hopefully Shanahan keeps feeding Morris.

Week 2 Dilemma:
RB 2 Concern
Alfred Morris @STL (proj. 8.12)
Shonn Green @Pit (proj. 7.50)

StraitSportsG’s Take:
I am not a fan of any Jets offesnive player despite last weeks output but Shonn Greene is the man. In Shanahan’s offense any RB will do but he usually finds one he likes for a few weeks before changing things up. As you said, both receiving nearly 30 carries is a pretty good feeling but neither getting to the century mark is concerning. I really think you have to let the defense make your selection. The Steelers allowed 94 yds on 27 carries by the Broncos with 1 td to Moreno. The Rams gave up 83 yds on only 18 carries allowing 1 TD to a Lions team that passed nearly 50 times! I would take Morris ,as the RGIII week 1 performance will require the Rams to game plan against the pass. Plus Shonn Greene plays for an offense that I just can’t buy, week 1 was smoke and mirrors!

StraitSportsG’s Pick:
Morris (99 yds, 1 TD)

Owner: Aaron Boggs
Team Name: Boggz Dawgz
Record: 1-0
Aarons’s Issue
Stevan Ridley or Marshawn Lynch may cause me some stress. Mr. Skittles was drafted as my RB2 but Ridley had a great showing last week. Bellicheck has doomed runningbacks to fantasy duds in years past but Ridley may be the one who breaks the mold. Beastmode’s back spasms and the Dallas D may just be enough to get Ridley the start in week two.

Week 2 Dilemma:
Stevan Ridley vs. Ari (proj.12.89)
Marshawn Lynch vs. Dal (10.94)

StraitSportsG’s Take:
As a Welker owner I am certainly worried with Ridley because he is talented and can be very effective with the Brady passing game drawing the bulk of the attention. Beastmode is a sketchy play that could blow up or bow down any time. His 85 yds rushing last week were ok but he didn’t find the end zone. Patriots running backs haven’t been a complete bust as the Law Firm showed last year with his 11 TD’s but they certainly have not been a focus of the offense.

StraitSportsG’s Pick:
Ridley (120 total yds, 1 td)
