Colts Couch Crew:
Hey guys, welcome to The NFL Update. There's a lot in hand for us, so let's go!CFL Team Eying Vince YoungA site I am a guest blogger for, Reservation for Six, has reported
that Tennessee Titans quarterback, Vince Young, is being interested by
CFL's Toronto Argonauts. Young, who was named the Rookie of the Year a
while back, lost his job last year to veteran quarterback Kerry Collins.Young says he wants to start with Tennessee or be traded. Then later, our blog reported
that Young's agent has said that Young DOES NOT want to be traded.
Reservation for Six has also reported that former Broncos quarterback,
Patrick Ramsey, might steal Young's second-string QB spot.Thing aren't going swell with Young, but hopefully if he goes to CFL, there might be hope.
Browns Sign OL, Release SafetyReservation
for Six is on a roll. Bryan Brackney, keep reporting, you are doing a
great job at these breaking sports news alerts. They have reported that
the Cleveland Browns have signed offensive tackle George Foster.Foster
played for the Lions and Broncos. He was recently released by Detroit
after spending his last two years with them, most notably the 0-16
season last year. George Foster was also known in the trade that made
he and Tatum Bell fall to Detroit, while Dre Bly moved on to Denver.Foster looks to improve the O-Line as he will block for Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, or Brett Ratliff. The Browns also released safety Jason Venson.
Former NFL-ers Tryout for UFLReservation
for Six has found out some NFL players that have tried for the new
league, the UFL (United Football League), for Dennis Green's team. Here
are the players:
Travis TaylorDavid BostonJermaine WigginsQuinn GrayReche CaldwellLeBrandon ToefieldBobby Sippio
More at the Six.
Former Browns QB, Charlie Frye, Get the Nod by Al DavisFormer
Browns starting quarterback, Charlie Frye, got the nod by Al Davis that
he was signed by the Oakland Raiders. Frye was the Seahawks' backup
quarterback after being traded from the Cleveland Browns due to his
lack of playing.Frye looks to create a QB battle between him,
Jeff Garcia, and JaMarcus Russell. Who I think would win? It'll be
Russell for sure.Bryan Brackney gives you more of it at the Six.
Saints Linebacker RetiresReservation for Six reports
that Saints' linebacker Dan Morgan has announced his retirement. He was
expected to become a starting linebacker, but it looks he has turned it
down. Morgan has had a pretty good career, now retiring with close to
400 career tackles.Morgan has struggled throughout his career with injuries.
This is what Drew Rosenhaus said in his Twitter feed; thanks to Reservation for Six on the report:
"Dan Morgan has informed the Saints that he has
decided to retire due continued injuries. Dan would like to thank the
Saints for the chance to come back this year, but injuries would not
let him continue his career. His decision is final and he will be
moving on to focus on his restaurant business in Charlotte. Dan also
wants to be able to spend more time with his wife and children."
More SigningsHere's a new segment
called "More Signings." I talk about the other signings from around the
NFL that I can't make little tidbits of because I really don't have
time. So here are the signings you have missed:
Atlanta Falcons sign draft picks William Middleton (cornerback) and Vance Walker (defensive tackle).
San Francisco 49ers sign tight end Brian Jennings to a five-year deal that lasts until 2014.
Philadelphia Eagles sign their draft picks all to a four-year deal:
Victor "Macho" Harris (cornerback), Brandon Gibson (wide receiver), and
Fenuki Tupou (offensive tackle). Buffalo Bills sign Justise Hairston (running back).Seattle Seahawks sign Courtney Greene (safety) to a four-year contract.
Thank you for reading The NFL Update of June 9, 2009. More updates coming to you soon!
