I think everyone can remember the madness last year when Warren Sapp implied that the Pittsburgh Steelers were too old to be considered an elite team. The Steelers did a great job of proving Sapp wrong both with the teams' overall on field performance and the way that the younger backups stepped up thru injuries. So just as the offseason passes us steadily by and we almost have that negative implication out of our minds, it pops back up. I was reading a power ranking on NFL.com and was maligned to find that they had the Steelers listed as the 13th ranked team. Not bad for a 12-4 team that has lost Read more [...]
BEST OF MAXIM
After hours of even more tape watching and researching more on the pro days, my latest Pittsburgh Steelers mock draft version 4.0 is now complete. I have battled back and forth with myself, as I do with every mock draft, on the first 4 rounds. Who will drop where is always the toughest question to answer. One position I was not able to fit in this go around was running back. I am...
The Steelers brought back three offensive lineman this week in Ramon Foster, Doug Legursky and Trai Essex. All three players are back on one year deals; Foster and Legursky signed their restricted free agent tenders and Essex signed a one year deal to return to Pittsburgh. All three players played m Continue
With the recent rumblings that a bunch of teams are interested in trading for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn’t see it happening.
I agree with Bouchette, the Steelers won’t go out of their way to trade Wallace. Even though he doesn’t plan on signing his restricted free agent tender, he’ll be playing in Pittsburgh...
The Steelers have BYU defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo and Wayne State safety Jeremy Jones in for pre draft visits on Friday to close out the week according to a tweet by Steelers Digest.
Fangupo measured in at the combine at 6011 and weighed 323 pounds. He ran the 40 in 5.18 seconds to go along with a 4.62 short shuttle time. He put up 36 reps on the bench and had a vertical jump...
PRICE OF FREEDOM
Warren Sapp recently filed for bankruptcy and explained his decision was between that or going to jail, so he made the logical choice.
When James Farrior was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers it raised one major question: Who is the new leader of the Steelers defense? The buck linebacker has the job of calling the play and getting everyone on the field in position before the snap, not a small task for a young player. For t Continue
At one point ESPN draft guru Todd McShay had Jonathan Dwyer ranked as a top 30 prospect for the 2010 NFL Draft. McShay had Dwyer rated as high as number 3 on his list of top running backs available in the draft. However, questions about Dwyers conditioning and work ethic came into focus following a Continue
The incomparable Chris Mueller had me on the Late Shift Show early this morning on 93.7 The Fan to talk a little Pittsburgh Steelers. Chris and I talked about the recent re-signing of Jerricho Cotchery as well as the signing of free agent tight end Leonard Pope and I gave my thoughts on both. I was then asked about a few of the needs the Steelers have in the upcoming draft and what...
The market for restricted free agents is pretty soft, but Steelers WR Mike Wallace is the clear gem. With the deadline for RFAs to get offer sheets from other teams, the interest has been slim across the league. Plus, was a parting shot at Tim Tebow in Denver deserved?
The Pittsburgh Steelers added a wide receiver to their roster on Thursday. The Steelers welcomed back veteran WR Jerricho Cotchery with a two-year deal. The free agent receiver had made visits to the St. Louis Rams as well as the Kansas City Chiefs. The addition of Cotchery to the roster now gives the Steelers a solid four receivers for the 2012 season behind Mike Wallace...
