It all started in the late 1990’s when my mom returned home with my very own Dan Marino jersey.  It doesn’t take much to sway the loyalties of an 8 year old, so the aqua and orange pulled me way into Miami Dolphins fanhood.  For the past 10 and some years, I’ve sat idly as a fan voicing my opinions to anyone who would listen until recently, when an opportunity to pick up a loud speaker arose: Phins Phocus—complete opinionated coverage of the Miami Dolphins.   Each week, The Stop and Go will analyze the previous game and the upcoming one in terms of what the Dolphins must stop, something they should start, and something they have done well and should indeed continue.  Let us take this opportunity to put week 1 behind us.   Stop: Tipped Passes and 3rd Down Miscues I could evidently compile a whole list of things that the Miami Dolphins need to stop after their week 1 debacle versus the Houston Texans, but, I will slip on Joe Philbin’s shoes and pinpoint what I deem the most pr...

Dolphins halftime contest: Win $10,000 if you kick a 60 yard field goal….seriously

The Miami Dolphins have become the butt of many jokes in recent years and with the latest ‘stunt’ they are pulling, it’s becoming more difficult to stick up for them.  The Dolphins home opener is Sunday against the Raiders.  At halftime of the game, the Dolphins will three Dolphins fans a chance to win $10,000. Do Dolphins have tools to fix woes in red zone?

DAVIE, Fla. In todays NFL, its tough to score in the red zone the area inside the opponents 20-yard line without some basic weapons. Heres the checklist: a head-banging running back, a space-clearing tight end, a wide receiver who can go up and get the ball, a crafty quarterback who is proficient at throwing the fade or the back-shoulder pass, and an offensive line that can...

Dolphins rule Daniel Thomas out with a concussion

Daniel Thomas is the Dolphins’ 2nd string running back and is the type of player who could have a big role on a weekly basis, depending on the matchup, because of how much the Dolphins like to run. They only got the run 19 times in the opener, 2 of which were quarterback scrambles, because they were down by so much, so Thomas only had 3 carries. He did catch a catch for 32 yards...

Pitiful Picks: Dolphins will win and get Tannehill/Philbin first win

It’s a new Miami Dolphins season and PhinNation’s pitiful picks are back!  Last year we finished right around .500, which was….well, pitiful!  This year, we’re getting started a week late for our full 4 pick format, but we are 1-0.  As difficult as it was, we picked the Texans last week -12.5 to beat the [...]

Terrible Dolphins halftime idea trending on Twitter

The Miami Dolphins probably have the worst PR team in the NFL as it seems they just can’t keep the team out of the tabloids. This afternoon ProFootballTalk.com reported the Dolphins plan on holding a pretty much impossible halftime contest offering $10,000 to a lucky fan if they are able to hit a 60 yard field goal. Most NFL kickers can’t kick it from 60 yards yet the...

Keys to today's game vs Dolphins

If you'd like to interact with me during the game today either with comments or questions, please follow me on Twitter @AsherMathews The Raiders are a few hours away from playing against the Miami Dolphins for the second straight year, today.  Last year's game was a 34-14 drubbing in South Beach and the Raiders will look to get even today.  There is no doubt that those...

NFL News: Have Politics Entered the Miami Dolphins Arena This Election Cycle?

Anyone watching television in the last few months is well aware of the fact there is a Presidential election looming on the horizon. Then again, that depends what programing you are watching. The Miami Dolphins have suffered local blackout issues in recent years after fielding underachieving teams. The NFL offered up teams a new deal which allowed the blackout restrictions to be...

Dolphins RB Thomas out with concussion

Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas did not practice Friday and was listed on the team's injury report as out against the Oakland Raiders with a concussion. Thomas was injured in the season opener at the Houston Texans. That means Reggie Bush should get the bulk of the carries for an otherwise inexperienced Miami backfield. Defensive tackle Tony McDaniel (knee) is also out on Sunday.

Concussion sidelines Dolphins' Thomas

Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Oakland because of a concussion, leaving the team with little experience behind starter Reggie Bush.

Houston Texans DE Antonio Smith fined, Miami Dolphins G Richie Incognito not

The person who retaliates is always the one who gets caught, not the person who initiates the transgressions. Such is the case for Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith, who was informed he was going to be fined $21K by the NFL for kicking Miami Dolphins G Richie Incognito during last Sunday’s 30-10 Texans victory. Smith however, was not so much disappointed that he...

NFL legend Dan Marino loses millions

CBS NFL analyst Dan Marino lost millions on a failed investment endeavor with the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by the production company Digital Domain Media Group, Inc. The company, founded by renowned director James Cameron, had gone public only less than a year ago. This sordid ordeal is quite astounding, consider the company had done work on extremely high-grossing...

Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins Week 2 NFL Preview

Brett Davis- US Presswire The offense was horrendous, putrid and every other hanus word that is in the dictionary.Yes, I stated that in my recent power rankings, and it should be stated that Darren McFadden hauled in 13 passes in the home loss. Carson Palmer was abysmal although the number won’t state such, but it didn’t help matters that their top targets were inactive. Darius...
