The long and entertaining story of Josh Freeman is moving to Minnesota, after the disgraced quarterback struck a one-year deal worth three million dollars with the Vikings. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Freeman with the 17th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, after a stellar three-year career at Kansas State University.Head coach Raheem Morris handed the 6'6" quarterback the starting job in 2010, after an impressive showing as a rookie. In his best season as a pro, Freeman led his team to a 10-6 record; throwing 22 touchdowns to six interceptions, and making his first Pro-Bowl. The one thing he failed to do was clinch a playoff berth, but the future was bright for what looked like a budding star. However, Freeman was immensely ineffective in his third year at the helm. The Buccaneers slipped to 4-10 in 2011 and Raheem Morris was fired; eventually to be replaced by former Rutgers University head coach, Greg Schiano. The new regime immediately went to work, adding talent and weapons around Freeman, whom they had dubbed their franchise QB. Pro-Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson, and All-Pro left guard Carl Nicks were signed in free agency and Freeman improved significantly. But alas, it was not enough and the Bucs once again fell short of the playoffs. That’s when things began to sour.Committed to building a winner, and not completely sold on Freeman, Schiano selected Mike Glennon, out of North Carolina State University, with the 73rd overall pick in the draft.Rumors began to swirl of a troubled relationship between Freeman and his head coach, however, he remained the starting QB through training camp.On September fifth, it was announced that Freeman had lost his captaincy for the first time in three years; this amid allegations he had slept through the Buccaneers official team photo.Through all of the muck, Schiano remained firm that Freeman was the team’s starter. However, after two close losses to the Jets and Saints, and an embarrassing loss to the Patriots, it was announced that Freeman would be benched in favor of the rookie, Glennon. The Bucs were unable to find a trade for Freeman, amid even more rumors that had surfaced about his drug-related issues. Though they would take a big financial hit, the team decided that it was in their best interest to cut ties with their troubled QB; effectively releasing him on October third.Three days later, Freeman’s agent Tweeted that his client had signed with the Vikings. The details were quickly released by a number of sources.Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier has stood firm by Christian Ponder as the team's starting QB, even after a great showing by Matt Cassel in week four against the Steelers. However, it has become apparent that the upper management seems to be comfortable with moving on from their 2011 first round draft pick, as he has proven to be much too inconsistent as a passer.Personally, I believe that either Cassel, or Freeman, will be starting come week seven, and that Ponder’s days in Purple are numbered. Needless to say, this is sure to be an interesting few weeks in Minnesota, as the Josh Freeman circus continues. So Freeman isn't expected to start this week. If Cassel wins again and plays well … won't he be difficult to bench? (big if.)— gregg rosenthal (@greggrosenthal) October 7, 2013 Follow @TheNFLInjuryRpt Looking for fantasy football advice?

Agent: Freeman headed to Minnesota

Josh Freeman is headed to Minnesota. Freeman's agent, Erik Burkhardt, revealed the move in a one-word tweet Sunday night, saying: ''Vikings!!!'' Burkhardt then confirmed to The Associated Press in a phone interview that Freeman agreed to a one-year deal for $3 million. Freeman was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, a week after being benched in...

Josh Freeman is in Minnesota now

I read a post at Grantland when Josh Freeman was benched that painted the picture of a quarterback that was teeming with talent, but was so misused and was neglected the opportunity to develop that his career has fallen apart. Bill Barnwell brought up some interesting points and had good observations on Freeman’s career, that I think all Vikings fans should check out. I’ll boil...

Report: Josh Freeman to Sign With Minnesota Vikings

Just three days after Josh Freeman was released by the only team he’s ever known, the fifth-year quarterback has reportedly signed with the Minnesota Vikings. NBC broke the news during their Sunday Night Football broadcast just after the completion of the 49ers-Texans game. ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the news minutes later on Twitter. Freeman will reportedly be signed to...

No NFL interest for free agent QB Josh Freeman

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally pulled the trigger on the move that I suggested this past week, just release QB Josh Freeman. Multiple media outlets reported that the Buccaneers front office was contacting all 31 other franchises in order to orchestrate a trade for the player once thought of as the franchise quarterback the team has been searching for years. No team was interested...

NFL Rumors: Josh Freeman to the San Francisco 49ers?

While there is much speculation about where former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman might land, why not throw another team into the mix, the San Francisco 49ers. Why not? Freeman is linked with rumors to possibly be headed to the Bay area with the connection between himself and Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olsen. Why wouldn’t the Niners be interested? Would they pass...

Vikings agree to terms with former Bucs QB Josh Freeman

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's starting quarterback this week will be Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder, not Josh Freeman. Beyond Sunday, there's no guarantee. The Vikings were finalizing Freeman's contract Monday. He didn't make it in time for practice but was scheduled to arrive later in the day. Coach Leslie Frazier said there's not enough time for...

Josh Freeman will be a better Viking than Christian Ponder

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Josh Freeman won’t start at quarterback this Sunday when the Carolina Panthers travel to Minnesota. The 25-year-old Freeman signed with Minnesota three days after getting clipped by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 3. Freeman struggled mightily this season over three games as a Buc and completed an abysmal 45.7 percent of his 94 attempts...

Bye week not always a blessing

Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington all had byes in Week-5. The four teams that didn't play this weekend have a combined 2-14 record, but the week off may have been just what the doctor ordered and not only for the obvious reasons. Yes, Minnesota took the weekend to evaluate their quarterback play and then make a run for Josh Freeman -- who they successfully signed...

Minnesota Vikings and Josh Freeman: two trainwrecks unite

Josh Freeman or Christian Ponder? Hmm, that’s tough. Christian Ponder or Josh Freeman? Sounds like a sink-or-sink opportunity for the Minnesota Vikings. And that’s ironic because Vikings are known for their prowess in shipping. Josh Freeman has agreed to one-year deal worth $3M with the Vikings, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1. So what happens now? Has anyone seen...

Freeman picks Vikings as destination for his reclamation

The Minnesota Vikings appeared to further cut the cord with third-year QB Christian Ponder Sunday night when it was announced that they signed Tampa Bay castoff Josh Freeman. Reports suggest that Freeman signed a one-year deal for around $3 million. Ponder’s future already seemed in question when the 0-3 Vikings turned to Matt Cassel and emerged from London with a win that kept...

Practice Squad QB Thad Lewis To Start For Bills Sunday

The Buffalo Bills were also affected by Josh Freeman signing with the Vikings. The Bills made a late push to acquire Freeman, but were unsuccessful.  With E.J. Manuel out several weeks with a knee injury, Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bills will start practice squad member Thad Lewis at quarterback on Sunday against the Bengals. Bills HC Doug Marrone told WGR 550 in Buffalo...

If your head is spinning from all the events going on at One Bucs Place, you have company. Several counties that make up the gulf coast worth of company! But if your looking for a solution, or resolution to the events, well that comes in 5 days when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
