The New York Jets' proverbial bench warmer, Tim Tebow, makes nearly $4 million a year from endorsement deals. But marketing experts say his lack of playing time may be hurting his brand. “It has been a handicap, no question," said Lee Berke, a sports-media analyst and president of LHB Sports in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “From the football standpoint, he has been out of sight. In terms of performing on the field, it hasn't been like the year before. That's an issue. I think he's going to need the opportunity to prove himself again on the field.”

Tim Tebow To Jacksonville?: You Have Got To Be Kidding Me

There seem to be conflicting reports swirling in the air around Jacksonville, Florida the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. On the one hand there are reports that Jacksonville wants to make substantial changes this offseason in order to be able to win games, but on the other hand there are reports that are saying it is "virtually certain" that Tim Tebow will be a member...

Tim Tebow to Jacksonville might be a stretch

Even with a recent report that Jets quarterback Tim Tebow could end up with the Jacksonville Jaguars next season,  Arthur Arkush of ProFootballWeekly.com says it’s probably a stretch to believe that he’ll be a Jaguar in 2013. After doing a little digging, we hear that categorizing his arrival in Jacksonville after the season as imminent is a major stretch. Khan’s prior interest...

Jets Rumors: Rex Ryan Wants to be Fired?

Following his second consecutive disappointing season at the helm of the New York Jets, coach Rex Ryan is reportedly telling anyone that will listen that he’d be better off being fired if the team isn’t willing to “rectify player personnel and coaching issues on offense,” reports Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. The Daily News has learned that Ryan, the swashbuckling...

Mike Tannebaum Fired as Jets GM; HC Rex Ryan to be Retained

As many expected, the New York Jets have decided to part ways with General Manager Mike Tannenbaum on Monday, while making the decision to retain Head Coach Rex Ryan. While the Tannenbaum firing has been anticipated, it was unclear whether or not he would be outright fired, or reassigned to a salary cap management role. This is the best move Owner Woody Johnson could have made. There...

NY Jets coach Rex Ryan admitted he never had confidence in Tim Tebow

Following Sunday’s 28-9 loss to the Buffalo Bills — and an embarrassing 6-10 season — NY Jets head coach Rex Ryan was asked why he never started Tim Tebow as quarterback despite Mark Sanchez’s poor performance on the field. His answer was telling: “I'm trying to win the game, and that's it,” Ryan said. “If I thought Tebow would have helped us win the game...

Fire Rex Ryan

ESPN - The New York Jets' three-quarterback circus turned surreal Thursday morning, when Rex Ryan announced that Greg McElroy was being evaluated for a possible concussion and won't play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills in the season finale. Bypassing Tim Tebow for the second time in as many weeks, Ryan said Mark Sanchez will start the game -- yet another blow to Tebow,...

Tannenbaum fired, Rex Ryan staying

Rex Ryan will return as New York Jets head coach, but he will be reporting to a new boss. "Starting immediately, we will conduct a search for a new general manager," Jets owner Woody Johnson said in a team-released statement. "I've consulted...

If Woody Johnson has a moment of clarity, he fires Rex Ryan

Rex Ryan’s bravado may have finally got the best of him. The New York Jets head coach has always been extremely confident, in fact, cocky. According to those in the know, if team owner won’t make the changes Rex wants, he should fire Rex. See, Rex isn’t stupid, either. He didn’t say my way or [...]

Jets fire GM Mike Tannenbaum; Rex Ryan safe

Rex Ryan is off the hot seat, at least for another year. Jets owner Woody Johnson announced today that general manager Mike Tennenbaum would not be back with the team. Johnson released the following statement, "Mike devoted 15 years of service to the Jets, and I want to thank him for his hard work and dedication. Although he helped guide us to two consecutive AFC Championship...

Rex Ryan: You’re not going to believe this, but Mark Sanchez is starting against Bills

What better way for the New York Jets to end their season than to start the quarterback who was once the starter, then got benched, then started again, then got benched again and is now preparing to be under center to close out the year. Greg McElroy is still suffering from concussion-like symptoms, which means Mark Sanchez is starting against the Buffalo Bills this weekend. You...

Black Monday: New York Jets Fire GM Mike Tannenbaum But Retain Rex Ryan

Black Monday has rolled through the New York/New Jersey area, although Jets head coach Rex Ryan appears to have avoided the dreaded day after the regular season. The Jets will retain their head coach into next season, but GM Mike Tannenbaum is not as lucky. Jets owner Woody Johnson has decided to fire Tannenbaum after serving 15 years in one capacity or another with the team. He...

Rex Ryan safe, GM Mike Tannenbaum, OC Tony Sparano fired

Jets announced they fired GM Mike Tannenbaun and are keeping HC Rex Ryan.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 31, 2012Well this is bad news for us Patriots fans. Mainly because the Jets are making moves that make sense. If they were to stick with everyone they have now and keep Mark Sanchez as their starter, that would be amazing. Alas, after a terrible collapse of going from...

Jets Fire Mike Tannenbaum, Announce Rex Ryan Will Return as Head Coach

The shake-up in New York is underway, but Jets owner Woody Johnson doesn’t appear ready to clean house entirely. The Jets announced on Monday that Johnson has fired general manager Mike Tannenbaum, but head coach Rex Ryan will return for next season. After a 6-10 season it was expected that Gang Green would re-shuffle, and how they plan to do that is a little clearer now. There...

Sanchez, Jets lose finale in Buffalo 28-9

MARK SANCHEZ CAN'T FIND END ZONE AS JETS LOCK UP WORST SEASON IN REX RYAN ERA. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Those who subscribed to the logic that Sunday's regular season finale against the Buffalo Bills would be Mark Sanchez's final "try out" to the organization -- and potentially others -- that he can be a starter in the NFL were disappointed as the clock stuck...
