Over the last month and a half, NFL Network has been releasing their list of the Top-100 Players in the NFL according to player votes. They concluded their programming on the top-100 list on Wednesday night with the unveiling of numbers 5-1. The top player, as voted by his peers, was Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. With the QB position being the most important position in all of football, it seems fitting that the best QB in league would come in at #1. QB’s accounted for 3 of the top-5 spots and 13 of the top-100. Drew Brees came in at #2 and Tom Brady took the #4 spot. The first defensive player on the list was New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis, who came in at #5.

Three teams tied for the lead in the amount of players in the top-100 with 7 players each. Those teams were the San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles. If you take some time to think about it, it makes complete sense why these teams would have the most amount of players on the list. The 49ers emerged last year as one of the best teams in the NFL, the Ravens have been a powerhouse in the league for the past 5-10 years and the Eagles grabbed as much talent as they could during last year’s offseason. The 49ers and Ravens were able to use these talented players to make significant runs in the playoffs last year but they both fell short in their divisional championship games. The Eagles on the other hand went 8-8 and missed the playoffs. We’ll see if they’re able to do a better job of using all the talent they have on the roster in the coming year.
