Semi-scary and bizarre news out of Alameda, where early Tuesday a car reportedly was set ablaze at Raiders HQ.
The Contra Costa Times has the details:
A car fire at the Oakland Raiders’ training facility early Tuesday appears to be the result of arson, police said.
Nobody was injured and the Raiders’ facility at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway never was threatened by the blaze, which started at 4:06 a.m. and destroyed a BMW, Alameda police Lt. Jill Ottaviano said.
Crews were called to the fire after an employee at the facility showed up to work and saw the BMW fully covered in flames, Ottaviano said. The BMW also was missing all four of its tires, Alameda Fire Division Chief Daren Olson said.
A license plate on the BMW was melted beyond recognition, and the car had no identifying information on it, Ottaviano said.
Wow, this has gone too far. Rolando McClain really needs to grow up.

I want to start this out by saying that there is no way that Tim Tebow will ever wear Silver and Black in 2013, but imagine if Tebow became a member of the Oakland Raiders in 2013. This is what would happen if Tebow signed with the Oakland Raiders in 2013. For starters Tebow would compete with Carson Palmer and Terrelle Pryor for the starting job. Palmer would be cut for cap reasons...
Two more starters and picks from the '09 draft have vacated for greener (Cha Ching) pastures. The very solid and productive Tight End Brandon Myers(79/806 4 tds in 2012) and pass rusher Matt Shaughnessy, who has been chronically injured but his potential is off the charts. With other starters including long time Raider and perpetually the best punter in the NFL Shane Lechler...
The Oakland Raiders are still very interested in free agent cornerback Terrance Newman and have hopes of signing him soon. According to Jerry McDonald of the Contracostatimes.com, Newman is giving ‘strong consideration’ to signing with the Raiders. McDonald writes: ‘The agent for cornerback Terence Newman said Monday his client is giving "strong consideration" toward...
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Oakland Raiders are interested in free agent tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. #Raiders fans will be interested to know they’ve expressed interest in TE Kellen Winslow, who is finally healthy. He wants to keep going. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 18, 2013 The Raiders need a replacement for Brandon Myers, now that he signed with...
The wheels are apparently in motion finally for Rolando McClain’s departure from the Raiders.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Raiders have given permission to McClain’s agent to seek a trade for his client:
McClain’s agent, Pat Dye Jr. of Sports Trust Advisors, recently requested the green light from Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie to shop McClain, the...
The Oakland Raiders have brought six new faces as part of this year’s free agency period, and all of them are members of the defense. Those six are equally split between three linebackers and three defensive lineman. Earlier today, the Silver & Black got their third new DL when Vance Walker was signed. Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie and head coach Dennis Allen made it through the first week 2013 NFL Free Agency without making any major moves on the open market, but did manage to strengthen the struggling pass rush.
Former Chicago Bears outside linebacker Nick Roach signed a multi-year contract with compensation ranging from $3 to $4 million per season, the...
Vic Tafur reports that the Oakland Raiders have signed free agent DT Vance Walker on Monday.
Walker, 25, was with the Falcons last season and was actually a pretty solid player for them. He’s much better run defender than an interior pass-rusher.
The Raiders have already lost Desmond Bryant to the Browns and it’s unlikely that Richard Seymour will be re-signed. Add in fact...
As it stands, David Ausberry tops the Raiders’ depth chart at tight end. Yeah, that’s not gonna fly.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports on a potential solution to the Raiders’ tight end woes:
#Raiders fans will be interested to know they’ve expressed interest in TE Kellen Winslow, who is finally healthy. He wants to keep going.

At the end of last week, the Raiders signed former Chicago Bears LB Nick Roach to a 4 year deal worth up to $13 million. The 6’1 235 lbs linebacker played as the Bears starting strong-side linebacker last year (strong side is the side of the line where the tight end lines up) for most of the season but filled in at middle linebacker for the last four games of the season when...
Seven days into NFL free agency, the Raiders have almost entirely focused on defense. That holds true for the team’s most recent two signings: linebacker Kevin Burnett, who signed on Sunday, and defensive tackle Vance Walker who signed on Monday.
This trend comes with good reason. The Raiders had a lot of problems last season. The biggest problem was probably Rolando McClain and...
